December 11, 2015 (SSB)  —  We, the family of Garang Deng Dekuek are heartbroken to share with you, the news that the head of our family and the Chief of Paan Kuek lineage of Abek Clan, Chief Aleu Garang Deng Dekuek has passed away as a result of a cardiac arrest. The late Aleudit passed away on the 1st of December 2015 at around 10AM in Karatina, Kenya at age of 80 and was buried on Tuesday the 8th.

Chief Aleudit known to his peers as Aleu-marialjohk, was born around 1935 in Pajaak in present day Twic East County to the late Chief Garang Deng Dekuek, and the late Adit Bul Bior from Kongor. He is survived by seven sons, four daughters and five grandchildren.

The late Aleu-marialjohk was made chief of Paan Kuek lineage, of Pan Aleu Section of Abek Clan in 1999 and held the post until his death.

Aleudit was a quintessential Jieng. He was an industrious and a virtuous man who has never been embroiled in controversy, even once in his long life. He was highly dignified, humble and kind. He was a magnificent epitome of Jieng nobility, well traditional veterinarian and a wrestler in his youth.

While we mourn the loss of a very good man, we also celebrate his remarkable life. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
