Wernyol town, Jonglei State, burnt down to embers

December 13, 2015 (SSB) —- Wernyol the headquarters of Lith Payam, Twic East County Jonglei State South Sudan came to unexpected attacks few weeks ago, they assailants have looted and burnt down the town until they left the historical place as an apparition town. Around 400 houses have burnt down includes the concrete built hospital, Church, School and a police Station.
Wernyol the historical town is the Headquarters of Lith Payam of Twic East County which border Duk County in the North, Gadiang proposed Jonglei State Capital City to the East, Kongor Payam in the South, River Nile and Awerial County of Lake State in the West. Wernyol is the home to numerous government officials in Juba and Jonglei State; it also has countless generals in SPLA.
Lith Payam Capital, second attacked came in April 2014 when major assaults came from Rebel faction of Riek Machar who launches a massive attack in the town. However, the Lith Youth Defence Forces who were stationed in the town during that time vow to die and they repelled they rebels protecting their town.
Therefore, according to the source on the ground, they unknown gunmen who have devastated Lith Payam Headquarters in this third attacks are believed to be government supporters of South Sudan Resistance Movement/Army (SSRM/A) lead by General Lul Ruai Koang who defected from the Rebel Faction of Sudan People Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) commanded by former South Sudan President Riek Machar Teny.
The underground source additionally said, the Cobra Faction presently in Greater Pibor Administrative Area lead by recently promoted leader self-claimed pastor, Chief Administrator and Army commander-in-chief Lieutenant General David Yau Yau also amalgamated they attackers. The relationship between they two leaders has grown recently when defected leader Lul Ruai Koang came to Juba seeking his home county of Akobo to be promoted as State similarly to Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) of David Yau Yau.
Wernyol attacks came surprisingly and similarly to the occurrences of Maar Payam of Twic East County, Juet and Baidit Payams of Bor County respectively, which Dinka communities from the above-mentioned places have pigeonholed their accusations towards those two groups from Lou Nuer of Uror and Akobo counties lead by Lul Ruai Koang and Murle GPAA of David Yau Yau.
The two active paramilitaries groups of Lul Ruai and David Yau Yau are pro government and correspondingly supported and funded by government to subvert Jonglei State government and its citizens to promote their interests to the Juba national government of Kiir Mayardit. Moreover, there are some government officials in Juba who wants Jonglei State remains destabilized due to the fear of its citizens to sideline with Riek Machar because of few individuals who have joined rebel movement.
General Lul Ruai Koang wants to follow the footpath of David Yau Yau gambling of killing innocent civilians in Jonglei State for his curiosity after he lost confidence in Riek Machar Movement. His colleague David Yau Yau has abducted numerous children, raided countless cattle and killed hundreds of civilians in Jonglei State since he commenced his rebellion in the region, nonetheless he has never held accountable by governments of State or National in Juba
The burned of Wernyol into black powdery residue on the 19th November 2015 in this third attempts is unacceptable and the Community of Lith Payam have condemned this jealousy attacks on their Payam capital in strongest possible terms. Communities of Wernyol will remains and exists in its presently location regardless of all these political attacks.
Another inner source said the neighbouring Dinka communities from North and South of Wernyol who have collaborated with enemies of peace and stability in our State were they ones who directed they attackers to attack due to the jealousy that Wernyol was not burn down during massive movement of Riek Machar who had burnt down major towns and cities in Greater Upper Nile Region.
Furthermore, there are some Dinka politicians in Jonglei State and Juba governments who’re not happy with the existence of Adhiok and Abek communities who lives in Wernyol since it was formed as a District during British and Arabs colonial period. Nonetheless, those communities shall remains there although their city is burnt down to ashes they shall build it like other cities, which were destroyed by wars.
Finally, if these attackers who burnt down the town wants this game to continue and then, the Community shall inform its youth under the umbrella of Lith Youth Defence Force to do their best to any person found moving unreasonably in their territory. The people of Wernyol are nonviolent people; they’re always for peace, stability and development in Jonglei State and South Sudan generally. They innocent civilians in Wernyol always protect themselves unfortunately, the recently attacks caught them unprepared and this is what led to the destruction of their town.
However, someone needs to tell Kiir Mayardit that your brother David Yau Yau that you always promote when he killed innocent civilians in Jonglei State will one day turn his promotion against you. The more you accumulate those rebels including Lul Ruai Koang, David Yau Yau and others, the more it show that you’re failed leader.
You always support and promote someone who has turned his guns against you and your citizens instead of jail. Lul Ruai is currently in Juba waiting his promotion when killing civilians in Jonglei State is a business as usual. This killing game need to stop and open game of peace, stability and development in South Sudan
