How chronic poverty is ruining the lives of South Sudanese citizens

March 4, 2016 (SSB) —- The government of the Republic of South Sudan, would have initiated the programmes to alleviate poverty and make better the livelihood of South Sudanese citizens, the government has not done this why?
Poverty mean nothing in the pocket for the last 11 years since the signing of the comprehensive peace agreement CPA in 2005, if you cannot believe that poverty is still affecting many South Sudanese and moreover with a declining pound every other day and think that the youths of South Sudan are jobless with option to join the army which is the only job in the country. What are we up to? Why is the peace process delaying? Then it’s a pity.
If you moved around this beautiful country South Sudan and asked South Sudanese citizens to explain if they are comfortable with the current situation to which all will chose that poverty is biting to the bone marrow, the government of the Republic of South Sudan, would have programmes like improving agricultural product that is well marketed and value is added and this would engage many youths who are redundant.
People need the government to introduce cooperative societies where majority in the country side can join to transform their nation and have source of revenue of this rich young nation and fertile with mineral resources.
The looming poverty in South Sudan is there because of high expenditures yet income sources are mineral, even other programmes that would have helped to transform the nation and reduce poverty have not been put in place because of high levels of corruption in the country that has made it worse as citizens are left to suffer.
Inflation has gone up; this is due to the pressure of UN trying to end wars among our founding fathers of SPLA and this cannot attract potential investors to come in for investment. In most communities especially in rural areas but even just around Juba town the capital city, some families are unable to afford at least two meals a day due to this current inflation.
Most people from rural areas are farmers who produce for consumption with surplus for sale to purchase the requirements of life but many people in rural areas live in wattle grass-thatched hunts and few have permanent houses mainly in urban areas, so where is our future from here as concern citizens of this insidious country call South Sudan?
The real grievance of South Sudanese today therefore, is corruption, lacking ability and no doubt for the ideology of those ruling family who are against our future.
