Dr. John Garang’s Mausoleum is NOT a cleansing ground for sinful elites
By Majok Arol Dhieu, Rumbek, South Sudan
April 13, 2016 (SSB) —- I’m completely dumbfounded because it’s an understatement to say –some of South Sudanese politicians are foolish- or they are quite mad. I will not go down talking and writing bad articles that brings disunity among people of South Sudan because all my writing will be kept for posterity and if I touch an itching part, this means that, it is not me who is speaking but the history.
I have been seeing the politicians who were on run coming back to South Sudan and rush to Dr. John Garang’s Mausoleum for prayers before they are integrated back into societies. What does this mean to South Sudan and to the world at large? In my personal view, there is jurabil (argument) between Government and rebels in government claims that they are following Dr. John Garang footprint while Rebels opined that their cause of rebellion was because the SPLM leadership is no longer following original SPLM objectives in which Dr. Riek who think power grows from the barrel of guns and his cohorts request for reform before they are called rebels.
This can be done out of John Garang because a dead person doesn’t produce new ideas. If we include him perhaps in his legacy, when did Dr. John Garang became a backstabber to the population of South Sudan? Are those politicians coming back from exile rushed to Dr. John Garang monument to pray for forgiveness or pray that they have tried to make revolutions and failed? It is not clear and it therefore need someone none other than PPS (Presidential Press Secretary) to explains in detail to the populace why and for what reasons the rebel politicians used to pray at the side of Garang’s tomb.
We must to do things in a clear manner so that the children can even sum up their own judgement on the matters affecting South Sudan but if the government and rebel politicians pray together at the side of Dr. John Garang monument, then which is which? Who is telling what? It’s just a very big confusion. Did John Garang say that after independent; put back the South Sudan itself into war of destruction?
Obviously No, he would have not push the world to bring peace in Sudan which was a path to South Sudan independent. Absolutely No, John Garang is not a part of rebels. In his own words, he cannot either be a part of this mess-up government also because he said SPLM is a party in which citizens have a right to summon its leader to the court of law if they feel something unusual is happening contrary to the intimidations and threats of the incumbent president security agents.
The issue of praying in Dr. John Garang’s monument is just a very dead and a raw deal to the public. It’s carry an objectification because the people both laypeople and middle class were wrong-footed by the sudden rebellions and are again cheated by politicians who visited Garang’s tomb as if he was the one sending them away. I have personally noted something unfair if government and rebels prays together in this important place. They are just cheating people by forging loyalty that will not exist for two minutes.
The government authorities must not allow sinful people to come and forge their loyalties here because it was just constructed to honour Dr. John Garang but not a temple for prayers. I hope Dr. Riek on 18th April 2016 will get a second bite at the cherry on the said date to pray in Garang’s monument which is not acceptable in my own view. Also at the far reasoning, what is your belief about dead? I do belief that a dead person is a dead person. He or she had just disappeared into thin air completely. Even the dead person doesn’t know that he/she is dead. So, why do leaders come to John Garang’s tomb for prayers? Is this not a weakness?
How can somebody who is dead rule the country? If it is just a matter of his legacy, all of us can read his legacy while at home or at workplace and that is all. It is not applicable to ask the dead in order to give us wisdom. We all need to consider this as a very serious issue in its totality. Let somebody be trained by his/her father on how to respect the right of others at home while his/her father is still alive.
The achievement of Dr. John Garang can be traced back when he shot to fame while in his high school. If politicians were respecting him in his absolute absentia, they would have been far away from creating rebellion when they are removed from their positions while in facts they were in position for ten years without a single achievement they have done and concocted later that it is a failed state. They were contributing to its failure.
My information in this particular writing is very clear. Those rebels who used to pray in the mentioned place have shown to the International and Regional Communities that even Dr. John Garang was also a rebel either G10 or SPLM-IO which should not be the case because the dead is dead without new ideas.
Finally but not least, please bear with me; I have done a greater part. With evidence of politicians praying together in Dr. John Garang’s monument regardless of parties, I have grasp a chance to say that citizens were cheated by South Sudan leaders by creating a revolution that will again rewards them with positions. A situation of interruptions was created in order to hinder citizens from keeping in their minds dates and years of elections. Even Assembly Members are happy because they will gain what the president and other elites will gain.
For those in government who for some reasons will say that I have harm them, the facts must remained clear that there was zero work since 2005. Likewise to the rebels, their rebellions disguised in SPLM reforms was just in reality a fighting for one owns’ cake. The money which was means for South Sudan development was pocketed and again creates another chance of ten and more years to continue pocketing it.
Yours truly, The Side Mirror.
