By Emmanuel Malual Makuach, Nairobi, Kenya
April 17, 2016 (SSB) —- In south Sudan crisis began social media industries has play negative and positive impacts on the population that everyone else, I’ve been glued to the the past few days trying to comprehend the enormity of the south Sudan conflicts and crisis and the possible repercussions across the media house industry.
Without dragging us into a political debate, what’s alarming is the dependence global sourcing has on the Internet and political stability. When the first response of the government, in times of political crisis, is shut down of some media houses this has a massive impact on the nation’s global sourcing infrastructure to support global businesses. Its Internet, you have to ask the question whether smaller, less affluent nations have that level of sophistication.
South Sudan, as an example, has proven capable as a good quality resource location for East Africa and central Africa regions in areas such as well and calls center services, and has invested significantly in promoting development in the regions
The bottom line What is clear, is that Twitter, Facebook etc. are rapidly inspiring large numbers of people in nations with high unemployment to protest, where they feel their governments don’t “listen” strongly enough to their grievances, and aren’t pushing political reform at the same pace as economic reform. There is real fear now that the uprisings
The emerging of tribal media houses that carried out the agendas of reforms that base on tribal base .the few of those media house under influences of communities and politicians who directs them to published anything that they need to do that will promotes the interests of the individuals with cult of personality .African press that is use by untrained journalists or media practitioners that caused conflicts between government and the media house that the government is thinking that the media is fighting them on base on interests of individual groups with different agendas.
Mass media of south Sudan has sold the country to the international community through propaganda by running the stories that base on tribes and regions which most of the people says that it is because the news in south Sudan are alarming due to the biases and lack of skills and interests of the society from the news that the media houses are giving to Audiences, the concerns citizens and youth of the country describing the aggravating situations is fuels by media.
The only news on social media is about certain tribes’ rebellions and ranking of top generals in the army both government of the day and defections of people from military to form a different factions which should be base tribes. On SSTV as a national broadcaster also gives some news that lacking developmental issues.
All in all let us not take our country into fire while watching it the media practitioners .it is right time to use good messages to preach peace then preaching impunity through mass media .let us not continue writing some news that has no values to the society and you individual, time for propaganda is over it is time for peace and reconciliations .this is message to my friends in media industries in south Sudan
During the conflicts journalists and activists thus addressed the role of conflict-sensitive reporting. The participants took up the opportunity to extend their knowledge in regard to which major and important role media can play both in the escalation as well as in the resolution and settlement of conflicts.
