Stand out for Peace to Bridge the Broken Bonds
By Awut Mayom Agok, Paris, France
April 26, 2016 (SSB) —- In today’s memory, that the first vice president of the Republic of South Sudan has returned back to his home country, every word we speak and every action we make has the potential to change the direction of a relationship and diversity. Every moment is an opportunity to rebuild bonds for a better one nation. The key is to be able to reset back and resonate the things we said and did.
We have been overwhelmed by the amount of needs we desire, or caught up in a moment of anger and tribalism, not to mention the driving force called corruption, we need to stand out for a peaceful nation and a peace of mind now. For some, prayer or meditation will be the way to refocus and remember our higher purpose. Simply stopping for a moment and taking a deep breath and counting to ten, is all that we need to pull us out of a situation we have been in so that we can pause, refocus and restore the balance of purpose and direction.
The moment carried away our thoughts and emotions for so long, today, we need to let go what was pulling us back, stop, and slowly whisper “May Peace Prevail in South Sudan” a few times. This simple phrase will center you, and remind you that you are never alone in your wish for a better nation. At any moment many others are sharing this universal wish all long across the globe. It is the time to cut the stories short and think of how to relief the country from the burden of pain, sorrow, insecurity and poverty.
Welcome back home (a graveyard, ashes, and the war ground) Dr. Riek Machar, since you left the country burning it has still been burning up to date. It is up to you now the leaders to take another step to extinguish the fire or keep burning it forever. There is no small war now, insecurity is beyond imagination, economic war is not mention, and every single crime that is coming at a very high speed that no man cannot handle anymore.
At least, we have got a little to hope today. We have suffered enough but we don’t want any more bloodshed. The situation has made everyone a poet, singers, and many other things. There is no song that South Sudanese has not sang for South Sudan, they composed poems but still making it worse. We need freedom of expression for all citizens.
You leaders can change the system by helping people see that there really is a movement for a better nation. It is not just an extension of the Antiwar Movement or the Anti-tribalism or corruption Movement. It is a moment “for a better nation”, made up of thousands of diverse movements, like the environmental right, civil rights movement, women’s right and human rights movement. The worse part of all the devaluation of human life to less than a value of property possessed by an individual
Let us united today for the realization of the transformation of the nation!
