I applaud and support the return of Dr. Riek Machar to Juba
Promise of Peace for South Sudan
By David Mabior Atem, Canada
April 28, 2016 (SSB) —- I applaud and support the return of Dr. Riek Machar April 26, 2016 to Juba as ones of the first principals in the agreement that cared, and signed the peace agreement on August 17, 2015 as proposed by the mediators; as well as having overcome engineered and manufactured conspiracies that turned South Sudan into theater of war. History will take that into account. Liberating and freeing South Sudanese for a second time from the autocrat government had manifested throughout his leadership. It takes confidence, knowledge, courage and patience with clear and defined objectives to downtrodden myriad of issues.
Truth has won over lies, confidence has won over lack of confidence, and nationalism has won over self-rewarding tribalism and nepotism. That concluded peace agreement therefore signals a renewed hope, which will be the beginning of the restoration of development programs. It replaces the daily harassments, killing of the innocents, targeting of journalists, lack of social amenities, and accepting or honoring opposite views as well as separation of opinions from facts.
Last but not least, in the process of implementing the peace agreement you, the stakeholders, need to remind each other in every step that it is not about you. It is about South Sudan’s future, image and reputation, innocent children suffering in the UN camps, millions of refugees in neighboring countries, millions of martyrs that sacrificed their precious lives for that nation, end of widespread corruption especially drilling holes in the president palace as a way to squander public funds, ending of arbitrary detentions of citizens, and stopping cold blood killings, for example, that of Isaiah Abraham (political commentator) and Dr. Diing Col Dau the first scientist ever in South Sudan; and above all our children who do not deserve to inherit a crisis, rather a peaceful and developed nation.
