May 17, 2016 (SSB) — The Acting governor of Jonglei state Peter Wal Athieu Madol has decry that South Sudan was not a donation from the united nation, IGAD or international community condemning in strongest word possible that the United Nations, IGAD or international community or any other organization has no mandate in creation and naming of administrative units of sovereign nation.

The acting governor was reacting to the comments of the various organization including UNMISS who have been formally writing and condemning the creation of 28 states in the world new nation.

The republic of South Sudan was not a gift from Khartoum or UN, it was not a donation from  the international community; we gain our identity through the blood of more than 2.5 million lives Jonglei state acting governor Gen. Peter Wal Athieu Madol made the remarks while addressing the day of liberation 16 may.

“Those who want to help us should look into real issues like economic revitalization, rule of law among others not how many states or counties we have created this is not of their business,” he continued..

He stated that the 10 defunct states of the republic of South Sudan were created by Khartoum regimes.

“10 states were created by Khartoum, some people call the former 10 defunct states original, no there is nothing original about them, we did not create them,  they were created by Khartoum regime not us but when we come into the system in 2005 we were focusing on other important issues until recently when time came for

The acting governor appreciated what he calls wise decision of President Salva Kiir Mayardit establishing 28 states replacing the defunct 10.

On behalf of the people and government of Jonglei state, Gen Wal applauded the founding heroes of this nation who include Dr. John Garang De Mabior, Kerubino Kunayin Bol, Willian Nyuon Bany and Comrade Salva Kiir Mayardit, Arok Thon Arok, Martin Majier Gai, Samuel Oduho, Aliguatala and Maker Jool Deng.

“I stand before you to salute our heroes and heroines who unwaveringly sacrifice their lives to attain our independence” He said.

Wal admitted that the establishment of 28 states came with financial constraints. He said when SPLA supported the movement 33 years ago there was salary, no pencil or papers but they overcome the challenges.

He said it is imperative for the entire citizen to bear with the situation adding that the population must not look at Juba as the solution. The solution must come from within, he said.

The SPLM in Opposition rejected the move, saying it is against the peace agreement, but the government insisted it was responding to a popular demand of the people.

In January this year, the IGAD Council of Ministers said the dispute over the creation of more states would be resolved by the transitional government of national unity.
