Over 30 students graduates in Jonglei Christian Vocational School

July 2, 2016 (SSB) — Thirty three [33] students has completed five months course in Jonglei Christian vocational boarding school and they have being graduated on Friday July 1, 2016 in the state capital, Bor.

The Jonglei Christian vocational boarding school is supported by Star Fish Foundation an American charity organization. The students were study the information communication technology [ICT], electrical engineering, tailoring, carpentry, masonry and Roofing, agriculture and Biblical courses.

In an inclusive interview after graduation ceremony with Jonglei state minister for education, gender, child and social welfare Hon. Susan Lith Aluong who was the guess honor at the graduation ceremony said she has open and witnessed the third graduation at Jonglei Christian vocational boarding school for the students who completed the five months in technical skill.

I personally and the entire government of Jonglei state has appreciated the school management for the great services they have done to the communities around Bor town because this the only vocational training center in the state that offering the technical skills uneducated personal and educated personal they will help themselves to in order to feed their families she elaborate.

She said the education is the backbone of the nations around the world and south Sudan is a part of the world we should have to focus on the vocational skills its will help us in developing this great nation very fast. If the two to three students are graduated yearly in vocational schools in each states of south Sudan its main that the whole country is going to benefit from them because these is rear in our state it’s the first time to have it said Susan Lith.

Susan Lith said, “I have appreciated the missionaries and donors especially Star Fish Foundation for helping us to build this very nice vocational collage it will help our children to build the capacity and also it will help those who are seeking for a job around the state and we are always advocating to job creation for the youth across the state and the whole country and now we have got the dream has become true Star Fish Foundation have made possible for our children to have vocational skill.”

Now we are going to have our owned children who are electrical engineering they will setup our electricity in town, houses and in the offices so the boys and girls are they one benefiting from the vocational she explains.

She said the state ministry of Education will deal with the girls who are out of school to attend this vocational school so that they enhance their skill to help themselves in the near future and helping us in build the South Sudan.

We shall give awareness to all school girls dropout to come and study tailoring because tailoring is a business they will be tailoring clothes for the people and they will get paid then they will sustain themselves”, said Susan Lith.

In the same development, the principal of Jonglei Christian vocational boarding school Mr. Jacob Agany said this is a third graduation for Jonglei Christian vocational boarding school since its establishment and today we have graduated thirty three [33] students from the various departments like information communication technology [ICT], electrical engineering, tailoring, carpentry, masonry and Roofing, agriculture and Biblical courses.

The skills that student have gain here are very marketable skills they have got the skill that will give them a job definitely because a lots of people are looking for electricians and other people are looking for carpentry experts so we have produce them here and they are well equip they will help the community he said.

He said last year we graduated good number of students most of them are now working for United Nations Mission in South Sudan [UNMISS], others are working with government of Jonglei state, Humanitarians agencies and some are now working with the business community in Bor market so there are great evident our product have been employ by individual around the state.

He urges the communities around Jonglei to send their children the vocational school in order to get skill to create jobs for themselves instead of looking for jobs from the government and the UN agencies you have to pass through vocational school if you have dropout from academy school.

Achol Cecilia Anyang a one of the graduate student who studies ICT information communication Technology Jonglei Christian Vocation Boarding School said she will work hand-in-hand with her colleagues to use IT to create social media group to advocate for peace in the country.

We shall use this site of social media as a tool of bringing South Sudanese communities together’, I know with help of others we shall achieved to establish the South Sudan social media to connect us with the rest of the world said Achol Cecilia Anyang.

She said many of the girls have been saying that why should I go to school at the age of 20 above many girls are looking to get married as soon as possible but that is not the best way the best thing that you can ever do is to get a skill that you know best rather than staying and being a keeper at home not that way; you can change your life and work somewhere instead of asking all the time from the people she stressed.

She urge young girls who being forces to get married at the earlier age to attend vocational training to help themselves instead of being a caretakers at home adding that girls need to be independent this is a digital world whereby you don’t defend on someone else you have to struggle each day for the betterment of your life; it’s time to be independent and do what you want to achieve in life.
