Celebrating the 5th anniversary of South Sudan’s independence

July 8, 2016 (SSB) — I take this solemn commemoration of the 5th Anniversary of the Independence of South Sudan to congratulate H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit, 1st Vice President H.E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and the resilient people of South Sudan all over the country and abroad.

As we celebrate Independence Day this year of 2016 amidst a slippery but controllable transition to a peaceful and economically stable country under the law, I assure all our citizens of the leadership’s collective commitment to cement the spirit of peace and reconciliation in the country. The transition will be successful.

Happy Independence Day to All the Citizens of South Sudan!
