Statement from South Sudan Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation
The Republic of South Sudan officially rejects the proposal of the United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki Moon that additional UN forces must be sent in the Country. There is no justification for additional forces of the UN in South Sudan. So far UN has more than 13,000 troops in South Sudan.
South Sudan is a sovereign state will not accept any single force from the Region to enter into its territory and operate under the UN. Entering of any force as proposed by the UN Chief means invasion, which is unacceptable.
Leadership of the Country is committed to the Peace implementation and is willing to continue working with the Ministers of the SPLM/IO who are currently in TGONU until the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar comes back to Juba so that peace implementation is pushed forward.
