An open letter to Majak Agoot Atem, who has turned a political knife on our beloved President H. E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit

By Kocrup Makuach Aleu, Nairobi, Kenya

September 8, 2016 (SSB) — One day it will dawn on you that the heart can never be totally right if the head is totally wrong. Only through the bringing together of head and heart- intelligence and goodness, shall man rise to a fulfillment of his true nature. Neither is this that one must be a philosopher or a possessor of extensive academic training before he can achieve the good life.

I know many people like Dr. Majak Agoot of limited formal training who have amazing intelligence and foresight. The call for intelligence is a call for open mindedness, sound judgment, and love for truth. It is a call for men to rise above the stagnation of closed -mindedness and the paralysis of gullibility. One does not need to be a profound scholar to be open minded, nor a keen academician to engage in an assiduous pursuit for truth in South Sudan.

The other day I watched in dismay as Majak Agoot was being interviewed by an American TV Channel. The interview was coupled with reckless statements which had the aroma and odor for a regime change against our beloved president H.E, Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit. Do you think you will rule South Sudan when President Kiir is gone?

In fact, I am not a god to know who will hold the reins of power in South Sudan after Kiir Mayardit, but I know you will never sleep at JL- (State House) in the Republic of South Sudan. Actually you will never hold or even come close to holding the instruments of power and sword at John Garang Mausoleum.

NEVER!! This is because there is an African saying goes that power tends to corrupt and absolutely power corrupts absolutely. That is precisely what has happened to you because your mind has been corrupted by the power that you will get a happenstance to rule. Unfortunately you have a short memory and that’s why you have completely forgotten what sovereignty of a nation means to you and the people of The Republic of South Sudan.

Lastly, I am tempted to ask do you have ethos of patriotism, nationalism and pride of your own country which you have sacrificed your life to fight passionately and assiduously for more than 22 years during our struggle for Independence and freedom.

Can you recall why you took up arms and fought against an incorrigible regime in Khartoum? Is it not imperialism and pre-colonialism which you detested in the old Sudan? Do you think you are not welcoming back an imperialist regime under aegis of humanitarianism?

Today, I would like to recommend to you a book which I have just finished reading a couple of weeks ago about Foreign intervention in Africa. This is the title of the book, (Foreign Intervention in Africa: From the Cold War to the War on Terror (New Approaches to African History) Paperback – May 23, 2013).
