November 1, 2016 (SSB) —- Politic is a dirty game and easy game to play if you have supporters.  Politic is two words in Latin ‘Poly’ meaning ‘many’ and ‘ticks’ meaning ‘blood sucking parasites’. This definition described my point of writing this essay and reflection of what is happening in our lovely South Sudan. Politicians are too many and they are sucking the blood of innocent citizens without the return of services to society.

To highlight my main aim of choosing to write about politics is not because I like politics or wanted to become a politician. I wanted to share the two definitions with readers and let reflect about the current politics in South Sudan.

The politics of which one can be in government, but tend to critic the leadership without making a move of suggestions for better solutions. A politics of war for egocentric and not for a benefit of disadvantaged and vulnerable children and women. The politic of chronic power and greed. The politic of corruption and noise making like dogs in their cage seeking for food to eat. Politic hypocrisy and propagandas.

This a reason why I described politics as a dirty game because people voted for their politician, but politician fails to serve their constituencies in meaningful ways. Politics is a dirty game because of the power that politicians used when dealing with their constituents and opponents.

Here is a true definition of politic in good governance. It is a process of making a decision based on issues affecting members of society. This process must involve listening to people and incorporating their voices in good policies which can be translated into good projects. Politic must come with respect, good attitudes, and ethical behavior. It is not about criticizing leadership and opponents without formulating solutions in order to address the needs of people.

I’m afraid that politic in South Sudanese society has become a contingent disease and a duty of anybody who knows how to speak and write in social media. It has caused more harms and destructions in society, then doing well.

To me, it is meaningless when it is about criticism without making suggestions. A politician without clear visions and  solutions for the community is a delusion and idiosyncrasy politician. People who tend to play dirty politics assume that they are acting to serve society, but they are actually serving their own interests.

You are right there in that angle Mr. Abur! We on the ground, are infact experiecing the politics of “hypocrisy and progandas” where you find the politicians removed, tend to criticize the seating government without sincerity and objectivity.
