SOUTH SUDAN: BETRAYAL IN HUMAN SOCIETY

November 13, 2016 (SSB) —- Aquiline Tarimo in his book ‘Applied Ethics and Africa’s Social Reconstruction observes that, “it is unrealistic to think of a human society where there is no selfishness.” The dust has finally settled and the paparazzi attached to election fever has duly come to an end but one thing that has stunned me the most is “betrayal” in the hands of those you treasured most. I will justify my take with the recently concluded US election.
Throughout campaign time, Trump was soiled and vilified from all angles, being it his private life, public or his business world but things that kept him moving in such a trying movement are his zeal to finish the race, determination and focus to do the best for himself and the people he aspired to unearth out of bondage “Americans” despite lack of political experience and elites’ backing (argument I oppose because even in politic, there are political economies which has been Trump’s territory all his lifetime).
Record has it that most of the Republican’s top notches and heavy weight senators like Sen. John McCain, Sen. Kelly Ayotte, and President Bush among many others could not hide their frustration and rather opted not to back him for the presidency at the dire time of need. When on the other end, Democrats were all united behind Hillary despite all the uncomfortable faults she committed. Mistake me not, am not against the freedom or right of political affiliation but why do such at eleventh hour?
Sen. McCain in his own words uttered, “Trump’s behaviors make it impossible to continue to offer even conditional support for his candidacy.” Such remarks from a person of his caliber is costly in politic and would exactly be equated with hitting one below the belt. Deadly!!!
Unsurprisingly, human nature has always been like that especially when faced with tough times where your position is under threat; you use your colleague as a sacrificial lamb in order to avoid the wrath associated. Only tough individuals with genuine intend would stand the torrential rain with you. A trait not only in politic but also in social life.
Trump is a living testimony and a wakeup call to all the sleeping giants whose potential are untapped should celebrate. With renewed energy, he dusted off the greatest bullying of the highest order ever witnessed in the 21st century and delivered no matter what. Many view it as unprecedented but, he’ll no!! I don’t see any surprise or Serendipitous move in his victory as many perceived.
It doesn’t matter how incomprehensible your message is to the people, it doesn’t matter how people portrays you to the public, your opponent’s long CV doesn’t bother the target group either; after all, CV is just but a prove of all you have done in the past no matter how messy your previous job was.
What matters is the ability to convince the public that you can deliver to them in a new and clean way. Furthermore, it count most to assure the sufferers that it will soon be gone in your watch. Endear yourself to the poor and see the outcome of the compact majority.
Since betrayal is a bias that dated back to time immemorial in human history, it is best advised to take positive out of it as Sherrilyn Kenyon put it, “everyone suffers at least one bad betrayal in their lifetime. It’s what unites us. The trick is not to let it destroys your trust in others when that happens. Don’t let them take that from you.”
Trump is a force to reckon in political game with his resonating slogan “let Make America Great Again.”
