Dr. JOHN GARANG: THE SOWER
By Awuol Gabriel Arok, Juba, South Sudan
We salute you father,
We salute your flag of struggling;
Wish you everlasting eternity
Oh! Dr. John; the eye opener
You have opened our eyes to the world,
You have opened them and now
We can make use of them accurately;
You had opened our eyes,
And now we can see ourselves clearly;
Oh! Symbol of oneness
—
Beware of your deeds
Oh! The leading star
You have brightened our ways;
To see the series of mountains,
You are a freedom fighter;
The well-known friend of his own enemies;
African giant in his black skin;
Never to forget you
Oh! The roaring lion in the bush;
Pushing his cubs to the open grassland;
Oh! Symbol of oneness
—
Your dismiss caused us confusion;
For the work you did;
Was of great importance to us,
We shed tears, the bitter tears of your missing.
But for sure, it is a must your blood;
Will free us from our problems,
Oh! The leading rod
—
Father of nation;
Greetings to you in your deep grave;
We have missed your vocal voice;
Your strong convincing speech;
Your democratic tone;
And your humbling character,
May the king of all considers,
Your deeds ever and forever in life.
