Junubeen: Stop spreading dangerous and malicious rumours in South Sudan

November 6, 2017 (SSB) — There is no country governed by rumors; misinformation and disinformation. It is governed by the Constitution; the supreme law of the country and land binding on all.
There is no reason why the situation in the Capital should be stirred up on unfounded and baseless rumors. The custodians of people’s security ought to find out. The rumor-mongers need to be tracked down. They are the causes of the ongoing havoc. The panic in the town is their making.
Yes, we are getting scared with the heavy deployment of the troops; but we are informed that it is normal despite that they are dressed and in full gear as people poised for any eventuality. I wonder how classified security information should always be spreading like a wildfire.
It needs to be looked into with care. South Sudanese should not waste their time on hearsays.
Let us just embark on rebuilding the country and use our time to study the outcome of the visit of the President to Sudan; pros and cons. President Salva and Gen Paul have been longtime friends and comrades in struggles.
Their comradeship stood the test of time. If it is investigated, what is said to be their differences did not come out of the blue. There are big fishes behind.
If the duo has quarreled, it is friends who are quarreling; however, if it is a rumor, then they will settle it by themselves without political interferences by the opportunists.
What I have observed in Juba is that if there are two big people who quarrel, the materialists exploit it by exaggerating it until they make sure there is a bloodshed. This shouldn’t be allowed to go unheeded to.
I will be the last person to believe that President Salva can indeed stab Gen Malong in the back. I am also convinced that Gen Malong would not want to have a pat on the back for having fought off the rebellions in defense of the Constitution.
Those who mediate if indeed there is a problem should put the security and peace of the innocent people first before their per diems.
If it is providence, no amount of persuasion and advice would prevent what is about to happen (God forbids)!
