CEPO calls for South Sudanese parties to hold a Joint Press Conference in Addis

February 16, 2018 (SSB) — Community Empowerment for Progress Organization-CEPO is calling the leaders of South Sudan warring parties to the peace talks in Addis Ababa from 11TH -16TH, Feb.2018 today to hold a joint press conference on the outcomes of the HLRF. The press conference is called for making the citizens understand the final position of the conflicting parties. Whatever the outcomes of HLRF end with, the leaders of the conflicting parties have a joint say to the citizen

Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO says the joint press conference should focus on providing guilds of hope for peace and stability for the citizens. Whatever the outcomes of the meditation of IGAD-HLRF will be, it is essential for the leaders of the conflicting parties to brief the citizens of South Sudan on their way forward being it peace deal reached or not. The citizens are in dilemma especially if the conflicting parties did not reach any peace deal today.

The fear that the parties will reach to war is higher among the citizens. It is the primary responsibility of the leadership of the warring parties to assure the citizens that they are not for more fighting. This can be demonstrated by signing permanent ceasefire and security arrangement today if there failure in reaching an agreement on power-sharing or formation of the government. CEPO calls for the leaders to compromise today and give peace chance. Mr. Yakani stressed

Finally, CEPO strongly is calling for the leaders of the conflicting parties to have joint press conference today on the outcomes of the HLRF and their take for way forward without any failure

The organization was initially formed in Khartoum in 1999 and consisted of mostly University students, but its scope broadened after it was established in Juba, Southern Sudan as a separate entity. Presently, CEPO is engaged in the areas of Peace and conflict mitigation, human rights, rule of law, livelihood, governance and democratic transformation. MR.
