Sunday, May 20, 2018 (PW) — The intra-South Sudanese Dialogue made some progress on both governance and security sector. At least some outstanding issues in both sectors were resolved and agreed upon. Today the resolved outstanding issues in both sectors will be announced to the audience. Out of fives out standings that were by then hard for the IGAD facilitators at least 1 to 2 in each sector was resolved.

The deliberations were deep into the issues that define some of the matters of mistrust and lack of confidence including root causes. The committee on Trust and Confidence Building is progressing well in drawing some solutions on issues of mistrust and lack of confidences among the parties. Today there will be a pray organized by the faith-based leaders in the morning hours for bringing together the parties.

The spirit of the parties for dialogue under the intra-South Sudanese Dialogue is soft and spirit of wanting peace to prevail, although the some of the parties are harder in making compromises. Good change of attitudes was observed especially yesterday in handling the hard core issues in security sector.

The prayer will be from 9am to 11 am then the intra-South Sudanese dialogue will resume. Today the outcomes achieved will be announced to the public and handover to IGAD mediation

CEPO Remarks: Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO says the process of the intra-South Sudanese dialogue is handle hardcore issues among the parties. At least the manner in which the faith-based leaders are handling the process is encouraging and motivating. We are hopeful that the faith-based leaders can make some results realized that will make peace happen

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) is a non-profit, civil society, South Sudanese organization, registered by the Ministry of Justice on 17th November 2010. The organization was initially formed in Khartoum in 1999 and consisted of mostly University students, but its scope broadened after it was established in Juba, Southern Sudan as a separate entity. Presently, CEPO is engaged in the areas of Peace and conflict mitigation, human rights, rule of law, livelihood, governance and democratic transformation. MR. EDMUND YAKANI BERIZILIOUS is the Executive Director of CEPO.
