Peace is not a beast: It is an opinionated pathway for constructive engagements.

Wednesday, July 04, 2018 (PW) — Peace will not come to South Sudan on its two or four walking legs; it will appear when South Sudanese expose and disown individual feelings that go against positivity.

According to the former president of the United States of America President Barack Obama peace is just not about politics. It’s about attitudes; about a sense of empathy; about breaking down the divisions that we create for ourselves in our own minds and our own hearts that don’t exist in any objective reality, but that we carry with us generation after generation.

The peace we seek in the world begins in human hearts. And it finds its glorious expression when we look beyond any differences in religion or tribe, and rejoice in the beauty of every soul.

South Sudanese must acknowledge, appreciate and support the face-to-face meeting between H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Dr. Riek Machar Teny on the 21st June, 2018 in Addis Ababa the Khartoum Declaration Agreements on 27th June, 2018.

With openness and sincerity President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Dr. Riek Machar have given what they think is best for the people of South Sudan; what remain are peace ingredients from various disgruntled parties.

SPLM/A initiative of South-South dialogue in 2005 resulted into the unity of purpose that had led to an achievement of the peaceful and successful referendum in 2011.

The SPLM/A open and accommodating legroom from the Big Tent Theory which was clearly manifested during the South-South dialogue seem to be the driving force behind numerous rebellions ignited by greedy people and sectarian groups.

After the elections of 2010 and beyond the Independence of South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has personally taken the responsibility of making and signing peace with various rebel groups who were honestly and openly been accommodated without an objection to their bush returning ranks and demands.

In the search for peaceful resolutions of conflicts President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Dr. Riek Machar ordered for permanent ceasefire.

Few hours later some blood gulpers discarded the order resulting into recent killings and attacks in Southern Liech, Northern Liech States and Maban in Northern Upper Nile state that claimed the lives of 16 innocent civilians according to the army spokesperson.

Peace must be a universal call and without wasting time it must be supported and build across the whole nation without exception.

Communities at the grassroots must be vigilant and disassociate themselves from heartless individuals and groups who are not ready to support the peace pillars.

Local residents in areas where groups of fighters are based must cooperate with independent bodies and peace hunters by giving them rightful information.

This will expose their successive culture of denial and hold individuals who defied orders from their highest command accountable.

Time to say yes for peace is now; time to clear ourselves from negative reports is now.

Today is a time to say no to senseless killings and suffering and mindfully he/she who is not paying attention to the suffering and croaked voices of South Sudanese will never escape generational curse from the decreasing population of this nation.

Fire must cease and peace must be accepted; plainly those who are not ready for peace will not escape the biting teeth of death.

Peace will come wherever it is sincerely invited-Alice Walker
