CEPO: IGAD’s Revitalization Forum Returning to Addis Ababa, on 12 September 2018

Friday, September 07, 2018 (PW) — Today evening the IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan Ambassador Ismail Wise brief the delegates of the South Sudan peace mediation process that On Tuesday all the delegates will be airlift to Ethiopia-Addis Ababa to be alongside the IGAD Council of Minister Ordinary meeting that will discuss the South Sudan peace outcomes on 12 Sept. 2018.

The council of ministers meeting will be held in the morning hours. On Same day evening hours, the Head of State and Government will hold an ordinary summit to endorse the initialed Revitalized ARCSS. Both meetings will proposed resolution on the presented reservations by the conflicting parties of South Sudan.

If IGAD meetings were able to draw resolution on the reservations and their resolution is accepted by all conflicting parties of South Sudan then immediately the final signing of the revitalized ARCSS will be conducted. Today all the parties and stakeholders initialed the minutes of the ceasefire workshop.

Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO said IGAD should be straightforward with fear or favor in drawing resolution on the reservations present by the conflicting parties. Peace is needed by the citizens urgently without delay.

Let 12th September 2018 be a historical day for South Sudan. We are calling upon the conflicting parties to making final effective compromises for making peace prevail in South Sudan

Finally, CEPO is urging the leadership of IGAD to call for IGAD Partners forum meeting urgently after 12 September 2018. If possible including the AU ad hoc Committee members namely Rwanda, South Africa, Chad, Algeria and Nigeria to attend the meeting.

The meeting should focus on sorting differences and drawing way forward for South Sudan peace process.
