Leadership Services

Late Dau came from the bold and colossal family of Tor Akuei Achouth. The family of late chief Tor Akuei Achouth is one of the renowned families amongst the well-known families in Twi East and greater Jonglei. The late Dau Tor Akuei took-over the leadership role from his father, the late Tor Akuei Achuoth, in 1958, a position held by his late father since the inception of the chiefdom system introduced by then the British administration. As we all know in many cultures that chiefdom structural systems are unaltered. Therefore, for this reason, late Dau became the successor of his father and reign both wutKhoryin and Paleek de Leek until his untimely death. He was also amongst the four executive chiefs in Kongor based on the patriarchy system of chiefdoms in Kongor.

Late Dau was one of the oldest long-serving chiefs in Greater Jonglei. He took over during Ibrahim Abboud’s era, and ruled alongside renowned traditional chiefs such as late Ajang Duot Bior, Jokgaak Deng Malual, Akoi Jurkuch, Alaak Aringtung, Ajak Majok, father to the current paramount Chief, Manyok Duot, DuotBior and list goes on. Also, late Dau had witnessed the historic heinous killing of thirty-two (32) traditional chiefs in former Jonglei Province during the massacre in Bor area under the directive of former Sudan Prime Minister Al-Sadik Al-Mahdi.

Late Dau was a victim of 1991 SPLA conscription spearheaded by Major General late Jok Reng as he was known for his brutality towards chiefs. Dau was amongst those chiefs who were victims. He, late Dau Tor, was shot in the arms during the feud between the chiefs and the SPLA forces led by Major General Jok Reng in Kongor.

Dau Tor Akuei was one of those fearless, friendly, and greatest advisors to all of us despite our ages. He was the pride of us all.

His wisdom will be truly missed but we will make sure his history and legacy remain alive.

Late Dau was head chief of Pageer Payam.

“To lose someone I loved and respected so much brings pains beyond belief. There are no words to ease my pain, sadness, and grief. I will always remember your special ways to embrace love. Although you have left this world, you will always stay in our heart, like an angel with your blessing guiding us to light the way for me.”  Juach Garang d’ Bul

Juach Garang d’ Bul Condolences message”

It is with a deep sense of sorrow and sadness that I have learned of the and tragic death of Chief Uncle Dau Tor Akuei Achouth. Death robbed us of one of the most eminent of the generation of traditional leaders who wereactively involved in the building of our nation and in the efforts to achieve a better life for all.

Late Sultan Dau Tor Akuei belongs to the lineage of a proud and outstanding ancestry. His father, late Tor Akuei Achouth, was one of the greatest heroes of the time, who vigorously confronted the

British settlers in the areas of Twi East. Tor Akuei Achouth alongside other leaders of the time defended our land and our dignity. Their legacies will forever remain etched in our proud history of resistance to colonialism.

Sultan Dau Tor was a wise, humble and respected leader in Twi East and Jonglei. We shall always remember him as an outstanding patriot of our time.

On behalf of my family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of late Sultan Tor Akuei Achouth, the people of wut Khoryin and Paleek de Leek as well as Kongor and Twi East communities in general.
