Dear President KiiRiek: We Need New Faces in the Gubernatorial Oppositions

Thursday, June 18, 2020 (PW) — I am grateful to the Parties for having reached a compromise. I call it as such coz it is a change of heart after the first deal on which Party takes which State did not see the light.
This is what the people have been longing for; having the States governments in place although it won’t change much.
The country had been held hostage for along time coz Some leaders think if their interest doesn’t appear anywhere;it means being subdued politically or financially.
It is untrue. It is all about the people. What do we, as citizens,have to do with you as individual leaders?
What connects the leaders with the people is the services they get. The security the said government provides.
Our interest is not in knowing the Generals, Governors or the Ministers but we rate them for the services they give as nationalists.
I owe a debt of gratitude to Hon Nhial Deng. He is a consistent and a shrewd politician not known for lying.
To be honest, this compromise came about due to his own effort and charismatic skills to convince the President and the FVP to agree after a long standing political stand-off.
The war traders who pretend to be leaders will now stand with their tails in between their legs; they are caught unawares. They have done much damage.
It is time for South Sudan to be called a sovereign State that provides security and services to her people.
His Excellency, the President knows and very much privy to the glaring failures of his cronies but he still brings them misconceiving that they will change but not at all.
They are always adding insult to an injury.
My humble appeal is that this time we need new faces in the gubernatorial positions not what my friend called duplication.
I know this may be transcended by the English adage of “better the devil you know than the devil you don’t know.”
However, I pray that this appeal finds a place where decisions are taken.
