Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed State government officials on Friday in Bor, Jonglei State, the former Defense Minister and senior Presidential Advisor, Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk, has confessed that the SPLM-led government has “failed to deliver services to the people.”
“We have destroyed the government by ourselves. When we fought the Sudan government for 22 years, it was for us to become independent so that we do what the government of the Sudan was not doing for us. Since July 2005, the government of South Sudan was formed, but what did we do from 2005 until 2011? What did we do? We didn’t build schools, we didn’t build roads, we didn’t build houses for our people, we didn’t make hospitals, we are not feeding ourselves and we are depending on relief food from the UN. We killed ourselves, we hate ourselves and this is a challenge that we have now made. I am not going to congratulate you until you prosper in providing services to the people you are serving. We failed to reconstruct what was destroyed by war during the liberation struggle and for destroying what was left during the 15 December conflict.”
