Captian Mabior John met President Salva Kiir yesterday, but the press releases are more contradicting. Mabior is in Juba as part of the ‘National Conversation South Sudan delegation’ as per this statement on his Facebook page a few days ago ( 31/10/2021 at 18:26).

“I will not meet anyone nor make any press statement until after our meeting with President Salva Kiir. We are in Juba as a delegation of N.C.S.S., and our mission is to find ways to contribute to peacebuilding and socio-economic development.”

That tells you that Mabior is not in Juba by himself but as part of the delegation. But, unfortunately, the press release by the office of President and posted on the Facebook page of the Office of the President – Republic of South Sudan gave a different version and mentioned nothing about the N.C.S.S. delegation. Here is the quote from the post.

“Mabior Garang De Mabior apologised to H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the people of South Sudan for any statement that he might have said on the media against H.E.H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the Nation.”

Unless confirmed, one would have nothing to report here. So, where is the correct version? And I wish both Mabior, and Ateny Wek give that answer soon.
