THE GOODLUCK JOHNATHAN OF SOUTH IN THE RISE TO PRESIDENTIAL POWER

By Emmanuel Ariech Deng, Juba-South Sudan

Wednesday, 14 May 2025 (PW) — Let us all disagree to agree that a chance of becoming president does involve invisible powers to attain. In the events of one wanting to impose, it outrageously resulted in heinous consequences and cause unrest to innocent people. It is wiser to embark on natural maneuvering of things to happen rather than relying on human theories and illusions. Always place your hope in God or traditional beliefs, for that matter.

After the superstition had accomplished its task in your favor, the ball is in your court for you to manage, maintain and administer the affairs or else face the helter-skelter exit. While in the court with the ball, there is always unwanted precedenceassociated with this political adventure especially the counter speculations emanating from rival forces and those others aggravated by the swift organizational structures.

Now that the magic had successfully outplayed the encounters, you are certainly left to deal with  the impending afterwards of those who felt oppressed by procedures used to bypass the organizational regulations and membership code of conduct. It is a glaring fact that the internal wrangling of the prominent members of SPLM is akin to that of Kenya African National Union (KANU), which had suffered some major divisions and defections in 1990s-2000 when junior members were skipped into top most senior positions to meet the interest of the Chairman and the historical party was torn apart, thrown into extinction.

Another setback in the recent political development and changes in presidency has been the wide ranging hate speech it had sparked across the country on live and script debates on all platforms prompting a confused political atmosphere of what the move might hold for the country and her impoverished people languishing in abject poverty since the war of power struggle erupted within the SPLM party in 2013. It is highly likely to plunge the country back to disagreements and confrontations.

In my humble conclusion, I have strong conviction on leaders who are shaped by policies, actions and determination. In the case of Dr. BBM, it is tantamount to not embark on “Keep your dog poor and it will be loyal to you” policy. The dogs of 21st century have unanimously rejected the 19th century policies and deserted the keepers of the policies for greener pastures.

Napoleon Bonaparte, a French Military General and Ruler once said, ” the only way to kill a generation is by keeping them poor so that their thinking capacity would be limited to getting food for survival”. This policy works for a leader with dictatorial tendencies and a choice to subject young educated generation to economic hardships is not an idea to buy.

To easily generate a commanding popularity from the public, try to restore the dignity of the country’s image and basic living standards for citizens especially the organized forces and civil servants. Deviation from cared leadership would be met with strong resistance despite its consequences on the vulnerable people. End!
