Breaking News: President Kiir has fired Vice President Bol Mel
Breaking News: President Kiir has fired Vice President Bol Mel from the government as vice president, from army as general and from the SPLM as deputy chairperson.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a series of major decrees this evening, reshuffling key positions within the government, the ruling SPLM party, and national financial institutions.
Benjamin Bol Mel Kuol Akol has been relieved from his position as Vice President and removed as the SPLM First Deputy Chairman. The President further decreed his demotion from General to the rank of Private and dismissal from the National Security Service.
Paul Logale has been relieved from his role as SPLM Secretary General. The President has appointed Akol Paul Kordit as the new SPLM Secretary General.
Addis Ababa Othow has been sacked as Governor of the Bank of South Sudan (Central Bank). Yeni Samuel Costa has been appointed as the new Central Bank Governor.
Simon Akuei has been removed as Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA). William Anyuon Kuol has been named his replacement.
All decrees were read this evening on the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) and take effect immediately.
