A New Genocide in the Making:  The National Congress Government is Targeting the Arab Tribes in Darfur

———————————————–
The disastrous situation in Eld Daein town, the capital of East Darfur state, is a manifestation of a much deeper crisis in Darfur today, and it reflects the result of the policies of divide and rule of the National Congress government.  The government had earlier on used some members of the Arab tribes against their brothers and sisters of the non-Arab tribes, which resulted in the continuous genocide of Darfur against the non-Arab tribes. As time goes on, the massive majority of the Arab tribes in Darfur disassociated themselves from the Sudan government’s plans and they can clearly see that their interests lie in the common interest of co-existence and the joint future for all the citizens of Darfur and Sudan, and they were deeply involved in dialogue and discussions between themselves and their neighbors with the civil societies and political parties until they reached the point of rebelling against the National Congress government, and the National Congress too designed a new plan to divide the Arab tribes and to put them at each other’s throats.  That is resulting now in hundreds of people losing their lives in an inter-tribal division created by the National Congress, and the last disaster is still going on in Eld Daein town and its surrounding area between the Rezegaat and the Malyaa and earlier on between Rezegaat, Misseriya, and Bni Hussain and other Arab tribes in Darfur.
————————————
The National Congress deliberately created new states in Darfur on an ethnic basis targeting Arab and non-Arab tribes, and as they received a clear signal that the Arab tribes are no longer interested in the gimmicks of the National Congress and they are seeking a new way of co-existence and common future in Darfur, away from the policy of divide and rule of the National Congress.  The National Congress decided to divide the Arab tribes themselves and to play them against each other.  This situation is a serious situation that is threatening further the social fabric of Darfur and Sudan.  By doing this, the National Congress is not only threatening the present Sudan but also the future of Sudan, and the most precious capital that Sudan has through hundreds of  years, the social fabric that is based on mutual recognition, mutual co-existence and tolerance.
———————————–
This new plan of the National Congress is a recipe for a new genocide at the time when the ongoing genocide has not ended.  It should be condemned and it deserves a collective response from the Sudanese people and the daughters and sons of Darfur in particular to respond to the challenges of the ill plans of the National Congress, and we should take it as an opportunity to forge an alliance between the non-Arabs and the Arabs of Darfur to liberate Darfur and Sudan from the yoke of domination and the genocidal regime of the National Congress.  It requires also a clear response from the international community and governments that are involved in the peace process in Sudan and the African Union, the Arab League, the UN and UNAMID forces to expose and to put pressure on the National Congress to stop the current policies, which are clearly leading to a new wave of genocide among the Arab tribes.  It is an opportunity to learn correct lessons from the experience of the past and to build a new common bright future.
