Khartoum Reverses Order to Stop South Sudan Oil Flow after the Summit

4 min read

Least some fellow citizens might plunge themselves into a premature celebration, let it be known to all South Sudanese that we are not yet out of the wood. It is the usual game as always, the circus continues: Khartoum agrees to XYZ in one day only to conjure up pretexts, the next day, so as to rescind their own decision.

If indeed it is a done deal that would hold, then we should hold our breath and demand to know what President Kiir has auctioned off. Is it the SPLM-North which would be morally and politically outrageous and a threat to our national security? Why would Khartoum leave us in peace if and when they defeat and obliterate the SPLM-North? Is it some kind of economic packages and territorial concessions that would be exploited further by Khartoum, like the International Court’s ruling on Abyei, in the hope of scoring more victories and reaping more ‘concessions’ with the full knowledge that Juba has, somehow, been cornered and cowed, courtesy of their own ‘trodden path’?

Will SPLM-south go after and hunt down SPLM-north should Bashir fancy, he must have already, that? Well, let’s wait and see, it won’t be long for the truth to emerge.

However, the truth is that, for Khartoum, the proof of the pudding is in the eating…till Juba goes after and hand over SPLM-north leaders to Khartoum in front of international cameras, Bashir would insist that Juba is still supporting the rebels and thus, oil must be shut down…that is the script.

Sadly, Juba has no power, absolutely, to fight and defeat SPLM-north if Khartoum can’t bring them down.
