The UN Security Council Should Sanction President Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar
My Statement on South Sudan Crisis
March 4, 2015 (SSB) — I welcomed the sanction by UNSC and its members, but I want UNSC to specify the sanction by targeting some bold names mostly from top leadership of warring factions.
Why not Kiir and Machar if they fail to restore peace. I’m not sure, but I believe neither Riek’s nor Kiir’s sons are fighting in front-line.
But that’s not the case, the case is that no more kids should be recruited to fight against their parents and no more people should continuing dying in South Sudan. This is not acceptable
Sanctioning field commanders of the waring factions would not solve or bear any fruit instead will encourage more lives to death since the top leaders are free negotiating in Luxury Hotels in Addis and Arusha.
I seriously urge President Kiir and Dr. Machar to respect the deadline for the sake of innocent citizens who are dying daily. Should the warring factions disrespect [the] March 05 that would be so ashamed and will definitely show lack of commitment.
The more they keep shifting the deadline the more lives are passing in South Sudan. IGAD must stop extending the deadline.
For the first time, I urge the AU Commission of Inquiry to release the report on atrocities committed so that the World will know who is criminal.
Blessings!
