Jonglei Watch: John Koang Summoned to Juba on Creation of New States

October 8, 2015 (SSB) — Last Monday governors of the ten states were summoned to Juba about the creation of the twenty eight states in the country. The presidential order no. 36/2015 has effectively expanded the current ten states in to 28 as is the will of the majority of South Sudanese. Some people will be making noise here and there but one thing is certain; it is a done deal. There is not going back on it.
The creation of more states in the country may be misunderstood and as such it was in order for the president to call all governors of various states and the two administrative areas for briefing on how to go about the whole process.
Some governors may not be aware of the reasons why the government thought it wise to implement further decentralisation at this moment. Among these governors is the old John and his sacred cows back in Bor. Thank god the president stirs things up there.
The time of re-division just like time of election is unpredictable time. Some people may be tempted to loot state resources or be reluctant to accelerate the implementation.
Jonglei state has many headaches compared to other states. John and his henchmen are ruling over disjointed constituency. The state was already sub-partitioned in to Greater Pibor Administrative Area. A large constituency mainly Nuer has consigned itself into UNMISS camps. Now re-division will assist the people of the restive state to rediscover their lost potential and regaining their freedom. This is true to the people of greater Bor and the self imprisoned Nuers at the camp.
On the other hand the people of GPAA stranded in Bor after Pibor separation will now think and retrace their roots to GPAA instead of being rulers on mars. They need to reconcile with Yauyau, the new politico-military ruler of GPAA. It was not our responsibility to babysit children of a different mother on our heads. It was choking.
And now when all said and done, it is the responsibility of John to act like Louis Lojore of Eastern Equatoria to register all Jonglei assets and liabilities and distribute them among the three or four states. It is the responsibility of the Nuer states to repatriate their stranded citizens in the camp with the help of UNMISS. And finally John and the leeches have to pack and go. Amen.
