Riek Machar has also corrupted Ngundeng Bong’s Rod
By Majok Arol Dhieu, South Sudan
October 15, 2015 (SSB) — The Ngundeng Bong’s rod which was taken by British and Sudanese Government forces in February 1929 was returned in July 2009 and was grasped by Dr. Riek Machar Teny instead of giving it to Lou Nuer people who claimed that there MUST never be peace among communities if the Ngundeng’s dang (rod) is not return. The rod was taken by the British forces as a symbol of success after they have killed Ngundeng’s son Guek in the battle. It was in the possession of District Commissioner Percy Coriat and later inherited by his wife after his death.
When the prophet’s rod was returned in 2009 to Juba, Dr. Riek did not allow Professor Douglas who brought it back to hand it over directly to Lou Nuer people. Having been too much addicted to Ngundeng Bong prophecy, he thought that if he perhaps put the prophet’s rod in his own house, Salva Kiir will die and then he will become the president afterwards. This was the hidden agenda as to why the prophet’s rod was not given to Lou Nuer. Dr. Riek doesn’t know that with the presence of prophet’s rod in his custody, he is shouldering all the problems since the prophet’s rod was politicized on the very first day when it was brought back to Juba.
Dr. Riek has been misled by Ngundeng Prophecy without knowing that revolution itself make changes and also there must be misconstruing of foresaid events from those who interpret them or even Ngundeng himself can simply do a mistake in interpretation. Nobody knows. Why do Dr. Riek and other Nuer stick to the foretold left-handed leader when there are more people identified as left-handed persons and are in the government.
So taking of the prophet’s rod, is it not “corruption”. If so, then corruption in South Sudan has gone beyond description to the extent that deities can also be diverted like money. I hope the confiscating of the said rod had far-reached repercussions. How can somebody of such characters be allow to lead the people. Dr. Riek and his cohorts have been talking about democracy when of course they were left in 2005 to head the GOSS and failed to show it to the entire citizens.
Instead, other ministers connived with Dr. Riek in making of Salva Kiir government failed. Too many of those said government officials have corrupted as much as their hands could takes until they concluded by taking prophet’s rod which was supposed to be transported to Weidang where Ngundeng byre is still existing.
If all believes even Christians who were present in May 2009 when the rod was handed over to Riek that Ngundeng rod was the one making troubles among the communities, then why Dr. Riek was not advised at that particular time to call the Ngundeng’ son and handover the dang/rod to him.
Was the prophet’s rod detained by Dr. Riek to bring him into power and forgot that it will be the start of South Sudanese problems? There must be something wrong with the rod since it was brought all the way from London to Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport without being realized by Security personnel.
I call on all the South Sudanese that it is our duty now at this very moment not to condone violence again in South Sudan because of such believes. There is a little hope about this dead in the water CPA-2 and if we settle later, we must vote wisely in the election for somebody who will take South Sudan next step not the murderous brigands that grasp everything for their own benefits even a stick that its fame goes back some centuries which has got no use for modern people.
Their reprisal is enough and we should make such people go home.
