In 2010, I raised a concern about the naming of our church as ‘Emmanuel JIENG Parish’, which is one of the parishes of Juba Diocese. As a member of the church, I wanted to take the matter up to my pastor, Rev. Philip Aduong Thiong, after a non-Dinka friend of mine made fun of it (Jieng) in reference to my poetry book (The Black Christs of Africa)’s dedication that reads:

A response to John Deng Yol’s article, “Rewarding rebellion is killing the morale and professionalism of our national army.”

However, John, you got to remember that there is nothing anathemic in launching a rebellion or rebelling against a government that had failed to perform its duties and adhere to the core requirements of governance social contract between the governs and the governors.

Read John Locke Second Treaties entirely. You will find that governments have no moral, ethical and divine authority or grounds to rule over anyone rather than to advance the best interests of every individuals under their rules and should governments failed to do so, then sovereign individuals and in their associations have divine, moral and legal rights to rebel against governments to bring about changes in the system entirely or in parts. People are entitled by God to do so peacefully and politically and/or violently.

Life is tied so much to water, air and food, while food is tied to water too, but their both shortage are becoming a global issue due to increasing of population and climate change which need new strategies sources of water beside its efficient use together with conservation measures to be an important component of the country’s national water plan.

There are major huge of demanding water resources in South Sudan’s population growth, in industrial development, expansion of irrigated agriculture, massive urbanization and rising standards of living. However, half of the world’s rivers and lakes are seriously polluted of the waterways and surrounding river basins have created millions of environmental refugees. Some of the world’s biggest cities like Beijing, Dhaka, and Mexico City depend heavily on groundwater for their water supply.

From rags to riches: the amazing transition of the South Sudanese Minister

December 6, 2015 (SSB)  —- According to Oxford dictionary, corruption is defined as dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery or the action or effect of making someone or something morally depraved. Hence what is the history of corruption in South Sudan?  Contrary to the well-known description; “the honesty of Sudanese” as found in some high school text books, South Sudan is now known as one of the corrupt countries in Africa.

Well, corruption slowly found it place within South Sudanese community during the years of arm struggle. From the beginning, the most daunting challenge was war recruitment. While all South Sudanese were sick and tired of the oppressive rule in Khartoum, they were not well versed with sacrifices of guerrilla warfare. The few informed including the leader of SPLM/A, Dr. John Garang de Mabior devised a dishonest way to lure the uneducated youths from the cattle camps to join the movement and fight Khartoum regime.
