April 23, 2016 (SSB) —- The governor of Jonglei state Philip Aguer Panyang has appointed the new state minister for information, culture, youth and sport into Jonglei state government.
In the state decree seen by the PaanLuel Wël: South Sudanese Bloggers (SSB), Governor Aguer appointed the former commissioner of Duk County, Mr. Jacob Akech Deng Kuany as the new state minister for information, culture, youth and sport.
The state decree for the appointment of Mr. Jacob Akech Deng Kuany who hail from Duk county as the new state minister for information, culture, youth and sport shall be cited as the decree no, 08/2016.
In the late February 2016 the governor of Jonglei state Philip Aguer appointed the state Mr. Awan Yath Awan who also hail from Duk county as state minister for information, culture, youth and sport and Mayen Ngor Atem as the state minister of agriculture and forestry both hail from Duk county.
Abot Awan Ghaidit, chairman of Duk county community and secretary General for SPLM party Jonglei, told the PaanLuel Wël: South Sudanese Bloggers (SSB) that previously they rejected the appointment of Mr. Awan Yath Awan who also hail from Duk county as state minister for information, culture, youth and sport and Mayen Ngor Atem as the state minister of agriculture and forestry because they were not among names the community nominated to the governor.
The names of the people that given to the governor were not from the community; those who were appointed by the governor are not our people they did not come through us he said.
He said although the two ministers were citizens of Duk county we already rejected them. If you are not nominated by the community there is no reason for you to join the government; you should remain outside until you are nominated Abot added.
Abot accused Mayen Ngor of disrespecting the community of Duk County. Mr. Awan Yath Awan who was appointed to be state minister for information, culture, youth and sport declare himself that he is not going to join the government his position remained vacant until Philip Aguer Appointed Mr. Jacob Akech Deng Kuany to be the new minister information, culture, youth and sport.
The Duk county community was not satisfied with the appointment of their two ministers Mr. Awan Yath Awan and Mayen Ngor Atem until they were not sworn in.
Moreover; the governor of Jonglei state Philip Aguer Panyang revoked the appointment of Mr. Yath Awan Yath as the state minister of information, culture, youth and sport in Jonglei state government.
However; the post of minister of agriculture is yet to be announce by the state government, it’s still vacant.
