The battle over the SPLM-IO leadership

November 4, 2016 (SSB) —- This afternoon the Government of the Republic of Kenya deported Mr. James Gatdet Dak, the Press Secretary of the SPLM (IO) Chairman, to Juba the Capital of the Republic of South Sudan. On his arrival to Juba International Airport at 3 PM local time, Mr. James Gatdet Dak was arrested and is now said to be in the custody of National Security Service.

Mr. James Gatdet Dak was arrested from his residence yesterday by Kenyan Security who went there in three vehicles. The office of the representative of SPLM (IO was informed that the order of the arrest came from the government. The Chairman of SPLM (IO) was informed about the development and he immediately contacted the Kenyan Authorities.

On a telephone conversation with the Deputy President H.E. William Ruto, he appealed that Mr. James Gadet Dak should not be deported to Juba due to profound fear for his life. He also spoke to the Attorney General and attempted to speak with the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He alerted them of the fact that Mr. James Gadet Dak was an urban refugee under the protection of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kenya. Unfortunately, his appeal was ignored.

The UNHCR on its part made serious efforts in order to reverse the decision to deport Mr. James Gadet Dak but without success.

The deportation of Mr. James Gadet Dak is a violation of the Geneva Convention. Moreover, the Kenyan Government is a guarantor to the peace agreement that was signed in August 2015 and we do not expect that it would put in danger the life of an innocent person. The SPLM (IO) therefore condemns this act in the strongest terms possible.

Finally, the SPLM (IO) appeals to the international community particularly the UN and UNHCR to ensure Mr. James Gatdet Dak is immediately released and reunited with his family.

Office of the chairman and commander in chief of SPLM/A IO

  1. Again, I have another thank to God and Kenya ‘s government. Our brothers from SPLA / IO think that the world is not aware of their mess and atrocities they have committed since the South and North Sudan ‘s war. However, it is just a matter of individuals ‘ interest rates and friendship they have built already . That’s why see some people are still going ahead with them but they know that the SPLA / IO is wrong completely. I hope DRC will do the same thing as well as North Sudan . Those group of James Dak have no mercy on the lives of South Sudan’s people. They saw how the innocent people suffering and they don’t care about them.

  2. mawien Magol says:

I told Mr. James Gatdet Dak to keep his mouth shut and never lies but he did not listen to me.

This is the moment we can say, the former Press Secretary of former vice president Riek Machar Teny has got what he was been fueling all these time. We do know he is the man from those specialist propagandist human being and one of the best liars guy in the world but thank God for bringing him back to South Sudan. He has no intention of seeing good things on Southern Sudanese people this is why he worked so hard to make sure the SPLA I0 led by former vice president is continues killing innocents civilians and those soldiers being fools not knowing what they are fighting for. The Nuers civilians have been suffering for so long but the people like James Dak and his boss Riek Machar don’t see that way.I wish the former Press Secretary of former vice president must be jail for life time so that, the rest of SPLA I0 will learn from him that, one day God will bring them back and justice have to do their job.

I told him to keep his mouth shut and not lies nor fueling conflict on Southern Sudanese people unfortunately, he did not listen to me but at this point I hope he is learning from his own mistakes. Well, who knows maybe the president will released him likewise, his former vice president Riek Machar left presidential Palace while, there were more than hundred of his own bodyguards dead on the ground around his compound. We are very unluckily to have a president that, doesn’t followed the rule of law and even he has no Idea on how to run the country. The majority of Southern Sudanese people wants a leader who understand what is affected them, they do not want war, they are looking for justice for all, they would like to see good things in their communities however, what they are seeing from their own president is failure which has no end but continues.

The former vice president Riek Machar and president Salve Kiir have the responsibilities to takes the blames and I think the president should not just sitting comfortable at his J1 and assumed everything is fine after Riek Machar left Juba. The president failed to followed the rule of law during the time he took action to dismissed his former Deputy Chairman. He failed to arrested him while, he was stayed inside Juba at the UNMISS Compound. Again, when the unnecessary war happened on July8/2016, he and his former vice president were giving speeches in the conference at his own Palace then, he letting him go freely while his bodyguards were dead around fence what kind of that leadership? Basically, both president Salve Kiir Mayardit and his former vice president Riek Machar Teny are causing war for their own benefits and not the will of Southern Sudanese people. If I was a president at a time when the militias of former vice president left their headquarter at Jebel Kujkur and came to attacked at my presidential Palace clearly, I would have put Riek Machar under arrest until proven that, he was not knowing why his militias made attacked but for president Salve Kiir, he let him go his residence there. I think you would agree that, James Gatdet Dak maybe will go freely just like his boss was let him go.

The Son of Founder Mabior Garang has to take that lesson from his friend James Gatdet Dak. I was a big fan to his late father Dr. John Garang de Mabior during the struggle time but I am not supporting Mabior simply, because his attitudes are completely different from his late father. I think the Son of founder must begin adjusting himself from Today otherwise, he would face same situation if the Officials in the government of South Sudan running out of patience. I know the Older Son of founder is growing like a little boy on the other hand, he is absolutely a man who can think clear and do what will reflected the vision of his late father. I will advice him to keep his mouth shut and do not against the foundation of your own father period. Second to it, when you are a first born boy or girl perhaps, it does not mean you can mess up all chances of youngest brothers in another word why not quitting politics if you don’t fit it well? You must thank me for this advice.

  3. manyok goi says:

Many thanks to Kenya Government for the best achievement you have done for the deportation of the criminal or war mongers James Gadet Dak to Juba so that he can answer some question regarding his crimial activities he had played during the conflict.there is a say kiswahili that siku ya wizi ni forty.Nothing we can say but RIP.

  4. Omukama Damson says:

His own brain brought him to Juba and that is a warning to those who want to abuse a crocodile while their legs is still in water

  5. Gadget is coming to roost in South Sudan which he has abused so much. Do u know that Gadet is responsible for the carnage that took place in J1? He was the one who ordered the IO soldiers to move to J1 and start shooting because the telephone of Riak Macar wasn’t able to go through assuming that Riak Macar had been assassinated by Government forces. But he failed to cross-check that his telephone was switched off because his meeting with the President and Vice President James Wani Igga.

  6. Panda Yentueng says:

Many thanks to kenyan government! Nairobi will never, ever again be the safe haven warmongers. The remaining clique Dak Buoth should also be deported.
