JMEC TO CONDUCT CANTONMENT WORKSHOP ON 17/18 NOVEMBER, 2016.
November 14, 2016 (SSB) — The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission will host a workshop on the setting up of Cantonment Sites on 17/18 NOVEMBER, 2016 in the Crown Hotel in Juba. The workshop will be attended by representatives from both the SPLA and the SPLA in Opposition through the participation of the Joint Military Ceasefire Commission (JMCC).
Amongst the issues to be deliberated during the workshop include, specific locations of cantonment sites, criteria regarding eligibility of combatants for admission into cantonments sites and arrangements for the protection and security of the sites. The JMEC will also provide a detailed analysis of other cantonment exercises that have taken place in other conflict zones with a view to adapting these processes to suit the context of the South Sudan conflict.
