The shocking waves of Donald Trump’s politics

February 3, 2017 (SSB) — When it comes to politics, the world needs politicians. Even the dumb politicians, but malleable are better than brilliant businesspeople who think only in one way, profit. Months ago, Donald Trump was chorus of shouts in USA presidential race, but now the echoes of those shouts are reaching the US valuable allies.
In his presidential campaign, Trump made it clear that all countries receiving protection from US must pay the cost for their protection. A statement that qualifies his mantra: “America first.” To the sensible citizens, Trump was a big joke to the US politics. So to them, it was a matter of time and his reckless words would knock him out of the race. But wishing with no action is a sterilised seed of hope. Trump won.
Just in less than two weeks after his inauguration, Trump inked daring executive orders to legalise his spewed words. According to Quartz Media LLC, “Donald Trump signed 18 executive orders and memos in his first 12 days in office, for an average of 1.5 executive actions per day.”
However, what took countries like Australia by surprise, countries in strategic positions, is lack of politics from Donald Trump in handling issues that need politics. The brutality of the Donald’s words is unmatched. Even a schoolyard bully is kind than Trump.
This week, the prime minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull was flushed out of Obama’s presidential politics. Some coarse words best fit in Celebrity Apprentice Show, found their ways into Malcolm’s ear. Before the leader of the democratic world hanged up on him. Trump trashed the deal they (Turnbull and Obama) made, the most sensible leaders before calling it “a dumb deal.” For countries whose security US has compromised for so long, Donald Trump’s administration will be a blessing. The only country in the real danger is South Korea, a country that’s door to door with the vicious and worse kind of dictatorship.
For the benefit of Australia, all US bases: satellite and military bases in Australia must end immediately. With these bases, Australia has been like an enticing worm at the end of fishing line. And these made All US rivals to eye Australia with bad eyes. And for what? Australia isn’t a poor nation whose agreements that compromised security should be peppered with aides in order to ease friction in signing. Australia is wealthy only that its population is small.
Australia must place trust in her technology and expertise. Because depending on another country doesn’t guarantee security. For example, in the Second World War, Australia fell off the UK radar and had to seek military help from elsewhere when Japan bombed Darwin. So, if US entangles in a war with of one the rising great military power, Australia will have to depend itself alone or forge a new relationship with other country with military might.
For this reason, Australia must re-evaluate her ties with US. Because no nation should support a democracy that doesn’t support itself, or gives the same helping hand to an ally. Australia has played roles that any valuable ally should play. Australia went to Afghanistan, Iraq and she sent her bombers to Syria to bomb ISSI strongholds. Australia did all these because it supports democracy, human rights and shared ancestry of being part of English speaking nations (Great Britain, US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.)
Finally, a vacuum left by US, be it security or economic (market) will be filled. In fact China is Australia’s biggest market. Donald Trump is just shooting himself in the foot. And any shrinking leader can’t determine geopolitics. This kind of a leader always remains in the parameters of his tiny country.
