South Sudan: Girls are our National Asset
By Madol Madol Aguer, Juba, South Sudan
February 8, 2017 (SSB) — Our young girls who are supposed to be our future wives, mentors, coaches and more importantly co-lives share that have the biggest responsibilities are unfortunately mistaken the freedom and trusts granted to them by uncles, fathers and mothers. When I talk of asset, it is the business term describing the wealth one has in the business apart from the goods and services given the firm, shop and industries. Therefore, Girls are our national asset in South Sudan base on the asset’s definition and generally the whole world can agree with me if I said that girls are an asset of any nation.
I valued them because am here because of the woman, my mum. Am a graduate because of her strong encouragement and continues support during unpredictable journey and I believe that any angel who will married me deserved the honor and respect for that matter. I do not see any different between female and male since we are both creatures of God and we resemblance God’s image, we live in the temporary all of us, we have equal opportunity before him, and we have equal rights whether we misused it. We are the children of God.
To focus on the subject matter, girls are our national asset. Today South Sudanese young girls in the street of Kampala, Nairobi and Juba are leveled as prostitutes not even commercial workers because of them don’t sell themselves. You will hate me for talking the reality but how should our future wives, the mothers of our children to be, dress in those streets indicate that no future for the generations to come.
We quickly adopted the styles we watched on movies and films and apply them instantly without asking why I should. What are the benefits of this act? And how will the community I come from say about this adaptation? How should I protect my parent’s dignity if I do not care of my dignity since am in dot.com generations?
I can’t talk about our cultures because I will be the fool and the most primitive son of bitch and a no man in this modernity but what about privacy, personal privacy will it be also a foolish idea to talk of it. Our cultures do not allow you to take photos after having sex with your services provider and so does personal privacy.
The case of our sister Princess Tonia, A South Sudanese girl in Kampala who posted on her Facebook wall with her services provider after dosing. Why should one spoil the dignity, even the married couples do not do that leave alone someone who is still tuning into many TV stations on to select the best watched film or a movie. So sad!
Some of our future wives become so cheap to be impregnated by the foreigners and go happy because that is the freedom their uncles, fathers, brothers and future husbands to be fought for. The case of Nyibol Grace who got flowered by Kenyan DJ. Freedom of prostitutions not freedom from slavery and we still call them as national asset, why not national liability that can be converted once needed. So painful!
I always had educationalist and politician saying that when” you educate a girl, you educate the nation and when you educate a boy, you educate individual” but my question are we educating the nation with this unbearable behavior from our girlfriends in the street of Nairobi, Kampala and Juba.
I can’t talk of those who grafted scholarships because of cheating Sudan school certificate or South Sudan school examinations and end up sharing the hostel room with boyfriends where abortion is the monthly period instead of womanly period, where are we heading to with our future wives who attack their personalities on the social media because of their boyfriends playing two cards.
Our cultures are painted with black color and we have forgotten that enculturation is the preservative of our core values and dignities regardless of where you are and your new adapted norms.
Am worry of the endangering cultures we adapted that our nation may be of no future generations should ladies continue running with adaption behaviors that geminating today?
In the nutshell, I call upon the mothers to correct some other misbehavior from our young girls and more specially respect to personal privacy, nightclubs, style of wearing.
Bible said that say the truth and the truth shall set you free, I have said the truth and am responsible for it because am a concern youth whose my future is being painted by my beloved sisters, future wives and mothers of tomorrow.
Am also concern because I have not yet pick out mind among them, who knows what will be granted by God to me among them. Apology if I have touched you but wait for me to pick out one of my choice before you go ugly.
