CEPO: Update from Khartoum on the 3rd phase of the IGAD-led HLRF
Friday, June 29, 2018 (PW) — Parties and stakeholders of the IGAD’s HLRF are now in Khartoum to commence the 3rd phase of HLFR in Khartoum after the 2nd face to face meeting of the president Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar in Khartoum that ends with Khartoum Declaration of agreement between the parties in a conflict of South Sudan.
All the parties and stakeholders of the previous HLRF are here invited to Khartoum for the HLRF from 29th June to 10th July 2018. The motto of the delegates looks soft and promising. The focus is on finalizing revised bridging proposal of IGAD on revitalizing ARCSS chapter 1 and 2 outstanding issues.
Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO says from Khartoum, the great challenge before the conflicting parties of South Sudan is committing to make effective compromises for paving way for sorting out the outstanding issues. CEPO calls upon the principals and delegates of the conflicting parties to take responsibility for making Khartoum phase of HLRF results-oriented.
As a reminder today, CEPO is calling on the parties with armed groups to give official orders for their forces to observe the signed permanent ceasefire in Khartoum from tomorrow. CEPO is observing your commitment as parties to Khartoum Declaration of agreement.
The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) is a non-profit, civil society, South Sudanese organization, registered by the Ministry of Justice on 17th November 2010. The organization was initially formed in Khartoum in 1999 and consisted of mostly University students, but its scope broadened after it was established in Juba, Southern Sudan as a separate entity.
