Congratulatory message to Lou Nuer Youth Association for Development for Free and Fair elections
By Pal Chol Nyan, Juba, South Sudan
Tuesday, April 16, 2019 (PW) — I take this opportunity to congratulate my younger brother Puok Tut Rang for having won credibly, transparently and fairly an election of the Lou Nuer Youth Association for Development (LNYAD) as its Chair.
Your mission is to unite, serve diligently and reconcile zealously our community within ourselves, our neighbours and beyond.
The prime target this time is to ensure Lou Nuer community interest is preserved. I caution you to be on the look-out against those who may want to use you for their selfish political ambitions. Dr John Garang used to call them “political vultures”.
You and your team have a daunting task to disseminate peace, work with our communities to stop inter-clans feuds, promote education, development in our areas and to support the R-ARCISS.
We need to stand and rally behind the stakeholders of the peace agreement to ensure its smooth implementation. Lou Nuer has enough manpower in all spheres.
It is time we need to turn our weapons into ploughshares. This peace is good for us. Our children don’t go to schools, our people are dying of preventable diseases and no roads.
Our people are holed up in UN camps. We want them to come home to rebuild and rehabilitate their lives.
I thank your rival James Wal Makuach wholeheartedly for having accepted the results. He deserves an appreciation. He is a great man .He has higher chances ahead.
I am indebted to the Electoral committee under the wise guidance of Molana Deng Gai Gatluak. They did remarkably well. Without them, it won’t have been that possible and peaceful.
I admire the humility they demonstrated and with which they oversaw and conducted the election. You did a great job brother Deng and your team, Congratulations!
Once more, peace be upon our community.
Go ahead! We are behind you. It is important to have this organization in place so that when our people come, they will get us organized.
