Divided by Defeat and Prophecy, Riek Machar Post Up for Grab
By Deng Vanang, Kampala, Uganda
Saturday, July 13, 2019 (PW) — Blame game is fast sweeping across every nook and cranny of SPLM/A-IO’s territory like a tornado. Target of divisive blame is Machar, IO’s pre-eminent Chairman and commander-In-Chief. Few, if not none, never knew a few weeks earlier his three-decade old helm in Naathland could come down crumbling in a wink, giving credence to Winston Churchill’s maxim: a week in politics is a long time.
The trigger of rebellion that saw IO’s Nuer-based media sharply divided is one Chief Brown Both Bol, the vernacular ‘’Nuer International Radio-America {NIRA}’’ supremo previously supportive of Machar’s every move either upward or down the spiral. Chief Brown as widely and fondly known, has his back pinned against the wall in recent days while under hell of fire from another IO’s alternative medium’s rocket propelled grenades.
This anti-Chief Brown medium is none other than ‘’Maat Nueri Dial’’ under the stewardship of one Mr. Isaac Gok based in Australia.
Chief’s abominable fault is him getting increasingly impatient and tied of his Chairman and Commander-In-Chief’s lackluster performance, especially in handling the six years ongoing conflict President Salva Kiir is poised of winning, having neutralized the armed opposition and secured the oil flow.
IO’s alternative video show, which Chief Brown dominated for along while, has now found its lost voice out of his criticism of Machar, a Nuer political deity for more than quarter of a century.
The rage is due to stepping down of Machar from leadership for someone, now that he is under house arrest in Khartoum, as called for clearer and louder by Brown and his long line of fanatical fans.
Machar, close allies and supporters aren’t seemingly ready to brace for a fall as of now.
Instead take none of this betraying call, while accusing powerful dark forces unsympathetic to his jail conditions within IO of being behind an opportunistic move.
Sketchy details proofing that all is not well in IO’s crumbling house are pretty emerging at a lightning speed.
IO’s powerful Chief of General Staff and Luo Nuer’s supreme leader, Simon Gatwech Dual had a few months ago wriggled out of Khartoum where he was clandestinely held under house arrest by Machar’s security aids since 2016.
His influential deputy chief of staff for administration and disastrous DR Congo long march’s lead hero, Lt. General James Koang Chuol Ranley faced nearly the same fate with his passport snatched and subsequently grounded by Machar’s security men who double as his right-hand clan men until peace talks in 2018 were consummated.
Each of the two bright stars-studded army generals is pinned down against rising up as an alternative to fill the void created by Machar’s virtual absence from the scene.
Currently those underlying suspicions are boiling out onto the surface with fingered suspects getting even more emboldened by a new prophecy from a recently Ngundeng-sent lady prophet that Machar’s leadership is over and now up for grabs, but felt short of telling the name of an alternative replacement.
Groups and candidates have in sub-sequence sprung up, angling for a lady luck to fill the vacant position of the unwilling outgoing leader who shouldn’t be written off anytime soon; having been known as one of the willy, yet greatest survivors of South Sudanese acrobatic politics and only beaten to second place by Dr. James Wani Igga.
However, critics aren’t letting up just yet, despite knowing his survival streak, in accusing him of numerous ills ailing the alternative South Sudanese power house.
Among them is the weakening of what is called ‘’people movement’’ {IO} in not allowing others to do what is necessary from his open cell.
Grooming of his wife Madam Angelina Teny to take IO’s leadership just in case he resigns to fate and increasing Dokization of IO are some of the most outrageous accusations painting Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon in a bad light.
