Rendering Our Constitution Invalid

Saturday, October 26, 2019 (PW) — There are things we do; yet we do not value them very much.  Among these is when we work very hard in order to produce a well-structured constitution to guide our leaders and to guide our community members. We spend hours and hours writing it, editing it and, we take our collective decision to approve it and, finally, we elect our leaders and our leaders commence their two-year-term’s work.

When time comes for us to expect our constitution to work, some people among us, a few of them, take their own decision to disrupt it and to render it useless. Do we not know, as a community, that when we value our constitutions and when we implement them, we become a well-disciplined community?

Do we not know, however, that any decision made by the few to make our constitution invalid is the best way to introduce the ingredients of divisions such as hatred, communication breakdown and the creation of a situation that would ultimately let sections of the community not working together for the general good of the community?

If we know, why are we in this situation?

If there is a change, if there will ever be a change, it is when those agents who have created such a situation to come to realization that they have made a mistake, that they should stop calling for the unity of the people and that they should step aside and shut up.  Only then, will new leaders, worthy of re-uniting our community, emerge.

Otherwise, no matter how loud those agents of discord calling for unity maybe, and no matter how important the positions they hold are, nothing will come to fruition.  Unity will not happen.

The glaring reason is the fact that those agents of discord have already defeated the purpose of their calling for unity and the community still remembers how their community constitution had been invalidated by the few.

The community is not suffering from a short-memory syndrome. Let me say this, again, to those agents of discord: step aside and let the community find new leaders who will be capable of bringing our people together once more.
