R.I.P Reverend Canon Clement Janda: An SPLM/SPLA Liberation Icon

Dear all, I am deeply saddened by the untimely death of our uncle and elder, the Reverend Canon Clement Guya Janda, which occurred in Arua, Uganda, this morning.
Clement graduated from the Bishop Tucker Theological College in Mukono, Uganda, with a diploma in theology with distinction in the late 1960s. The Bishop Tucker Theological College has since become the Uganda Christian University (UCU).
Clement graduated from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, with the degree of Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Divinity in 1973. He also graduated from the Austin Theological Seminary, Austin, Texas, USA, with the degree of Master of Arts (MA) in Theology in 1974.
On graduation with the MA at the Austin Theological Seminary, he became a lecturer at the Bishop Theological College before he returned to the Sudan to serve as the Provincial Secretary of the Episcopal Church of the Sudan (ECS).
Clement also served as the Secretary General of the Sudan Council of Churches, the Executive Secretary of the Commission of Churches on International Affairs at the World Council of Churches, the Director of Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation in Kitwe, Zambia, General Secretary of the All African Council of Churches, an associate professor at the UCU, and as a member of the councils of states of the Sudan and South Sudan.
My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, relatives and our global Christian family that he served so well. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
