Could the dissolving of 32 States create a problem in South Sudan?

By Santino Aniek, New York, USA

Saturday, September 1, 2018 (PW) — Now what is it in Khartoum Peace Agreement that most worries so many South Sudanese people? Recognizably any list in Khartoum Peace Agreement would be thought provoking and one item that does usually come to my mind is 32 states. Today, much of the worry is rightfully focused on 32 states and I might admit that there is something much more fundamental at play.

However, the majority of South Sudanese people are hoping that General Salva Kiir Mayardit President of the Republic of South Sudan will certainly never trembling his promise, because 32 States is one of his best signature achievement.

More importantly, when President Slava decided to increase states from 10 to 28 and then to 32 states, the question our South Sudanese people should ask themselves was how did we get to this point of separation among the communities?

History does not reward good people, but it rewards these who always cause destruction to the nation

Malong Awan Anei

May 27, 2017 (SSB) — President Kiir has tired down a relationship between the man who helped him during the 2013 when madness consume Mr. Mayardit’s humanness by dissolving the entire government and dismiss some of the seniors members of the SPLM Party. There is, obviously, much we do not know about what has just happened between President Kiir and General Paul Malong Awan, why it happened and why now. Just as obviously there is much more, so much more that we need to know the firing of General Paul.

In addition, we need to damn the dishonesties and expose the truth now to avoid another conflict because South Sudanese people are tried of wars. In fact, I really do not get it, I mean, I expect it because every thing is possible in South Sudan, but I do not get it. As of today, no one understands the psychology of Juba, because it seems like there are many people in that country who are not only uninterested in peace and security, but will actually get angry with you for displaying any interest in peace and security of our citizens. And so this happens on both sides, government as well as opposition by the way.

Now, it turns out that governing in South Sudan under President Kiir Mayardit and the FVP Taban Deng Gai is more problematic than we expected

April 15, 2017 (SSB) — I have lived for almost 40 years; I remember the war between South Sudanese and Khartoum regime, the humiliation and the shameless rebellion of 1991, the assassination of John Garang in 2005, and the senseless war of 2013. But, until now, I have never been ashamed to be a South Sudan citizen.

I always believed that, whether SPLM-IG or SPLM-IO, our leaders are basically good people who are reasonable and thoughtful, even if I did not agree with them. But President Kiir Mayardit seems be not reasonable, his decision against the will of Ruweng people is not thoughtful, and it is considered as a brutally betrayal.

The tragicomedy of the South Sudanese politics: SPLM-IG vs SPLM-IO

April 2, 2017 (SSB) — There is something brewing in South Sudan and for the Frist Vice President Taban Deng Gai to put his interest above the country’s interest will create an existential crisis in the nation. However, majority of South Sudanese including myself believe that the power to destroy a nation is not the lesson of President Kiir Mayardit’s Presidency.

But the really question in the head of every Ruweng people is, is the First Vice President Taban Deng Gai’s lesson here to destroy a nation? Nevertheless, when the newsbreak out in Juba the majority of Ruweng people were very excited about the appointment of Governor Theji De Adwad Deng and assumed that it would only strengthen our relationship with the FVP Taban.

Moreover, having relationship with the FVP Taban seems to have had the opposite effect on Ruweng people’s lives ever since. I know that living with the FVP Taban can be difficult and I anticipated an argument over years we spend together under his leadership in Unity State was hell difficult. But as of yet, we have not had any issues for Mr. Taban being the FVP of South Sudan, but the issue the people of Ruweng are having now Mr. President is the authority you give him to operate freely.

Kuol Manyang Juuk, Taban Deng Ghai, Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth etc in the USA

March 26, 2017 (SSB) —- Taban Deng Gai’s long career of abusing power for an endless goal and taking advantage of little guy does not just started, but since he observed power in the 1980s. Those who know Taban, in which myself is included, would agree that this long career abusing power and taking advantage of little guy did not just started overnight, nonetheless, since when Taban was Itang’s administrator.

In fact, the majority of the South Sudanese are aware of the grimy details of Taban’s infamously governing when he became the Governor of Unity State. As one might expect, Taban claims to represent the interests of the citizenry of this country, as he became the Vice President of South Sudan. But his governing record reveals a man with a penchant for tyrannizing the little guy and abusing power for his endless goal.
