"We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing" By Konstantin Josef Jireček, a Czech historian, diplomat and slavist.

I lend you my ears

By Sabbath de Yecouba

They call me a curse
Because I give you my ear
They say I am deformed by you
But for you dear
Can’t I be their idiot but wise to you for love?
Coz you only know why I give you my precious ear
It is so that you will hear me like I hear you

Their noise is too loud
Like fart of an elephant which leads elephants
Talking ill each time about me
Teasing me that I didn’t dance publicly
That I was a poor dancer
That I don’t take part in their wrestle knock out
That I am a coward

I have kept our teeth in my mouth
Since that day when Jairo kicked my buttocks
And I ran away quickly like a bullet
He wanted to box my mouth to lose our teeth
So that I will not laugh the way I laughed when you loved me
They call me a coward

They tease me that my hair
Looks like the feather of a hen which had fallen in a pot of hail
Head like the devil which enticed Adam and Eve to sin
This is because you loved my head
I don’t want it cut by a rusted razor blade

I am a teetotaller
Because alcohol is a mere sweat
I don’t want to drink sweat to stagger
I drink clean water from heavy rains
So that you will not turn your back at me
For you will not see me again for all your eyes are in front
Where have I wronged you?
Continue loving me coz am unique for loving you
