Lakes State Youth Consultative Council in Kenya

January 21, 2016 (SSB)  —-  The office of Lakes Youth Consultative Council which is the greater Umbrella of the formerly Lakes State that is currently divided into three administrative units namely Eastern Lakes, Western Lakes and Gok State would like to congratulate Hon. Eng. Chol Tong Mayay, the former first elected Governor of Lakes State and the former member of political detainees until 18th January 2016 decided to rejoin the SPLM mainstream.

We appreciated his bold decision in which all of us were dreaming for and honestly Chol Tong Mayay never turns his back to South Sudanese during the war of our independence since 1983 until 2011 when we said that separation from the North was the best to determine our future. He went against any attempt that will attract unity between the North and South during the referendum and led the people of Lakes State to choose Separation and voted against unity.

Not until 1997 after the Liberation of Rumbek, Eng. Chol Tong served as a distinguished teacher in Rumbek Secondary School as a fulfillment of the SPLM agenda of training qualified cadres who will reinforce the movement in short or long run and he did this because of the love for his people and SPLM vision.

In this juncture, we would like to tell the South Sudanese and the world in general that Eng. Chol Tong had never involved  in any ill intention such as Coup d’état or other atrocities that negates the well-being of our  people and nation at large.

Our sincere thanks to the President of the Republic of South Sudan Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit for having recognizing the innocent of Eng. Chol Tong and join Forces for peace and unity of our people.

As Youth, we remain committed to stands by him because of his great styles of leadership that he has shown us from day one and we urge our President to consider him in any capacity in the nation building because Eng. Chol Tong is always pure and clean at the heart of many people, determine and dedicated leader.

Our Leadership as Youth Body in Nairobi urges Eng. Chol Tong to be truly committed to support our newly appointed Governors namely H.E Rin Tueny of Eastern Lakes, H.E Abraham Makoi Bol of Western Lakes and H.E Madhang Majok of Gok State for the benefit of our people in line with Dr. John Garang vision of taking town to the people.

Our leadership welcomed the decree number 36/2015 of the creation of 28 States and we urge President  Kiir never to be fool around to reverse any decision that is oppose to the creation of 28 States, we also urge the remaining number of G9 and SPLM IO to join the SPLM mainstream to stabilize the country.

The LYCC leadership remains very committed to the peaceful resolution of the conflicts within South Sudan and we strongly urge both parties to be committed to peace, unity and prosperity of our nation.

We will always be the enemies of war and friends to peace and unity.
