Ateny Wek, Presidential press secretary

September 13, 2017 (SSB) — With his bankrupt politics that makes him extravagant with words, which is now costing him of his legacy, Ateny Week Ateny is now on both soul and physical searching for who would be the author of the video that has gone viral on Facebook.

The video is about the records of what Ateny said on his recent visit to Kampala. As he was in Kampala, Ateny was recorded to have said something bad about General Malong during his conversation with youth. He was recorded to have said many things against General Malong but these two statements are very important:

First, Ateny was recorded to have said that it was not necessary for Malong to go to Kenya for DNA test as saliva can be taken from him in Juba and taken to Kenya for DNA test. In saying this, he was referring to the recent death of General Malong’s daughter, in which he was needed in Kenya to go for DNA test.

Secondly and importantly, Ateny was also recorded to have said that Malong could not be allowed to leave Juba because he is a threat to government and for the safety of the Government he has to be detained under his house in definitely.

He was saying this carelessly without realizing that he has already destroyed the position of the Presidency that General Malong was not under detention. With the statement of Ateny as recorded and shared online, it is proved beyond doubt that Malong is actually under detention.

According to Ateny’s statement above, it appears that the stage the government has reached now there is no any real solution except detaining General Malong under the house arrest.  If that is what Ateny and the Government think to be the only solution then I am afraid there is no salvation in that action. In other words, it will never be a solution to the problem of South Sudan but it will make thing worse in future.

In addition, Ateny further gave away the secret of the government of hiding the fact that the government is in real or deep crisis. Ateny State shows that actually, the Government of South Sudan is only standing on one leg since it is only Bahr El Ghazal that is keeping the president in power.

As Ateny was talking unconsciously in respect to politics in South Sudan someone recorded all his conversation and shared it on Facebook. After discovering that what he was speaking in darkness was revealed in daylight, Ateny went on the rampage as he was searching for the one who recorded his conversation.

As a result, the soft target was me, his friend. He accused me of betraying him. The question then is: who recorded the political gambling statement of Ateny Wek Ateny? Was it me or someone else? In responding to the above accusation of Mr. Presidential Spokesperson, Ateny Wek Ateny, I would like to make it clear that I was not the one who recorded him for the following reasons:

First of all, I am always straight forward. For instance, when I do not like something I just confront people and I do not do it secretly. If I did not like what Ateny was talking about why then recording it and sharing without directly confronting him there and then? Secondly, there were many people inside the restaurant with him and me that time. Could one who recorded the conversation be one of those people who were around?

Thirdly, Ateny said he is a lawyer and he was supposed to have had evidence to show that I was the one. The fact that something is done in one thing and who did it is another and in order to hold someone liable for a certain action, one must produce evidence to prove that the one being accused is actually the person who did the act. Always Ateny claimed to be a lawyer but accusing me without any clear evidence shows that he has forgotten this principle of the law of evidence: there must be at least corroboration to point to the fact that the one being accused is indeed the one.

Fourthly, I respect friendship and for that reason, I could have not done it against my friend Ateny Wek Ateny. In general Ateny accused me falsely and I was supposed to have hired a lawyer to sue him for defamation. He has damaged my reputation yet I do not gossip as my action consistently has been showing.

In relation to that video online, I have highly appreciated the one who recorded the statement and shared it online. The politics Ateny is playing is devoid of morals. In fact, I have come to realize that the cause of all crises in the Statehouse is due to Ateny Wek Ateny’s immoral politics.

Ateny Wek Ateny is dangerous to everybody in the Statehouse including the Minister, Mayiik Deng. As it is proved by the video online he has been having the problem with General Malong and by inference, it may be concluded that even the conspiracy to detain General Malong, he is part of it.

The action of Ateny Wek Ateny has disproved what I have been thinking about General Akol Akoor. I have been thinking all along that General Akol Akoor, who is the director of National Security in South Sudan to have a personal problem with General Malong but since General Malong was removed from the position of the Army Chief I have never heard anything he said about General Malong.

However, since General Malong was removed from his post, Ateny has been sailing the whole world to ensure that General Malong remains under house detention. From today on I have accepted to take on Ateny Wek Ateny in defense of General Malong, the innocent man detained by the State House under the maneuvers of Ateny Wek Ateny.

In summary, I would like to sum up by repeating the words of Gloria Macapagal Arroy who once said: “We have to be bold in our national ambitions. First, we must win the fight against poverty within the next decade. Second, we must improve moral standards in government and society to provide a strong foundation for good governance. Third, we must change the character of our politics to promote fertile ground for reforms.”

I short, I have not recorded Ateny Wek Ateny but I appreciated the one who recorded him to expose his dirty secrecy against Malong. God of General Malong has at last revealed the dirty politics of Ateny Wek Ateny.
