March 19, 2018 (SSB) — Following the recent relieve from Chief Administrator, the office of the President, Mayen Wol Jong is again appointed by H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit as Undersecretary to the ministry of petroleum.

In a decree read on SSBC, Mayen Wol Jong is appointed undersecretary for the ministry of petroleum. The outgoing undersecretary of the ministry of petroleum hon. Biel Jok is transferred to Ministry of finance and economic planning as 1st undersecretary to replace the suspended 1st undersecretary Agak Acuil who is also transferred to the ministry of trade and investment.

Mayen who was implicated in the corruption scandal in the office of President with Executive Director- Yel Luol Koor alongside other eight junior staff and four Kenyans in 2015, where he was acquitted by the court of appeal as innocent, however, the rest of the suspects in case with the exception of Agou John Wuoi had their clemency reduced to zero by H.E the president of the republic in 2017.

This development has widely questioned the independence of the judiciary of South Sudan and the public perception over the matter has strongly remained in doubt that justice did not prevail.

The whole criminal tragedy in the highest office of the land still holds Agou John Wuoi despite the family and right bodies appeals to the president to pardon Agou who is the only one remaining behind bars after thirteen others in the same case were released in 2017.

Close sources have revealed that the appointment came as a result of Mayen Wol threatening to expose high confidential information to the public if not reinstated to the government.
