Saturday, May 26, 2018 (PW) — Riek Machar have failed and placed the entire Nuer Community into an ugly shape. The nature of Riek Machar’s politics have destroyed both the political career, dignity, and the culture of Nuer Community.

For instance; Nuer Community before Riek Machar’s war of 1991, the Nuer tribe were known worldwide as ” WARRIORS ” , brave fighting men and women, people with good culture and dignity.

After Riek Machar’s war of 1991, Riek Machar’s reckless, unsuccessful and cowardice politics have made the Nuer Community to be a choatic tribe who just make choas out of blue. Riek Machar’s politics have made the Nuer Community coward who starts the war and end up surrendering themselves to what they termed as an ” ENEMY “.

Riek Machar’s politics made us a community of no respect where you fine an elders abusing and insulting the young ones as well as the young one abusing and insulting an elder. (more…)

 Introductory remarks

Saturday, May 26, 2018 (PW) — The IGAD mediation (2014 -2018) like the Round Table Conference on the problem of southern Sudan (1965) produced a dead rat in the name of Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (ARCISS). Like the resolutions of the Round Table Conference, the parties did not implement ARCISS to its letter and spirit. President Salva Kiir exploiting the political cleavages within the SPLM/A (IO) engineered with the treacherous collaboration of Taban Deng Gai and Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth the situation that returned the country to war after a short lull.

The Obama administration through Secretary of State John Kerry cobbled the IGAD region into acquiescence to recognize as de facto Kiir – Taban coup against the SPLM/A (IO). President Festus Mogae, the JMEC Chair, choreographed the false reporting to IGAD, AU and UN Security Council that TGoNU was implementing the ARCISS at a time the security and humanitarian situation deteriorated in the country.

“Had the JMEC Chair been courageous and declared ARCISS dead immediately after the fighting erupted in J1, the situation could have been different and HLRF would have been unnecessary.”

Finally, in June 2017, President Festus Mogae admitted that fighting in J1 wounded ARCISS seriously and that it needed surgical intervention in the form of high-level revitalization forum (HLRF) to shift the timelines. 17 May 2018 marked the expiry of ARCISS and hence the legitimacy of Salva Kiir as president as well as all the institutions formed in accordance with ARCISS provisions. Had the JMEC Chair been courageous and declared ARCISS dead immediately after the fighting erupted in J1, the situation could have been different and HLRF would have been unnecessary.

Road-Construction

Saturday, May 26, 2018 (PW) — Juba town is the seat of the National Government. The host is Jubek state Government. With the decentralized system of governance adopted, we have a municipality administrative unit running the affairs of Juba. Simply put, if there is anything that does not go well in Juba town and its surroundings, it is the Municipality that bears the blame for what may be a dereliction of duty.

Now, if you see the internal roads, they are deplorable and impassable. Water tankers charge us at will. Boda-boda front is another hurdle hampering movements because of overcharging due to what they call fuel crisis. Food commodities are unaffordable, the list is long. The communities, using their own initiative, set to repair their own roads. It is a good work from the locals. I am afraid those who always want to have the credit for work they have not done, failed or refused to do will go to the pockets. They don’t desist from lying to the President that they are working when tangibly there is nothing.

The goodness is that the President has ears. Let us not hoodwink ourselves into believing fallaciously that he is unaware.  He knows what we do and where we fail to deliver. It is there that when he surprises us with a decree/decrees, most of us collapse or walk out of the town in protests because our mouths are pulled out of the breasts without warning. The President is right that once we fail, we have to be fired and asked to account for the failure. (more…)
