The SPLM/SPLA (IO) welcomes the initiative recently announced in Juba by Sudan’s Foreign Minister, al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, in a message delivered to President Salva Kiir from Sudan’s President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, as reported on Eye Radio – Juba and Sudan Tribune, on 05/06/2018. The leadership of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) also welcomes any reasonable initiative which can restore peace to the civil populations of South Sudan and we welcome the initiative of President Bashir as supporting the IGAD peace process.

The SPLM/SPLA (IO) reiterates our full commitment to the peace process and shall continue to engage positively with IGAD and all friends of people of South Sudan interested in helping our people achieve peace. We shall also continue to negotiate in good faith to restore peace to our civil population through the High-Level Revitalization Forum (HLRF).
